Could it, could it be...

I just realised something that irritates me. My male action figures outnumber the female ones something like 3 to 1. Now, while I'm sure Chiana is happy with this, I am not.

There is a dearth of good female action figures out there, and that's just stupid. I'd buy the chicks, if, say, they made them.

I remember when the first Matrix figures came out. They had every single character, except... Trinity. (and the chick in white, but she was rather non-essential anyway).

Very. Irritating.

It's like pulling teeth to find female action figures (especially ones done WELL). There are 15 different Wolverine figures, but one Domino, one Lorna Dane, one Rogue... A few Jean Grey (at least one of which is a repaint of the Domino figure). Dunno how many Storms... And yet there are 10 different Cables, obscure X-Force bad guys that *no one* cares about (Black Tom, X-Cutioner, Gideon...), various Scotts...

Arrgh. Perhaps I'm being unrealistic.

The ST:TNG figures were really cool. I remember the only problem I had with them was that none of them could hold weapons. I don't think any of the female figures came with weapons, even the ones who were security officers or someone who should be armed.

Yeah, I've noticed this too with some annoyance. At least Farscape did fairly well...they released a few versions of Chi and Zhaan. Amazingly, however, they only ever made that one BUTT-FUGLY Mutation Aeryn. Feh, I say. :P

I've a *bunch* of cool female action figures, all of which originated in Japan. Most can be seen here (http://actsofgord.empty-spaces.net/temp/cygirls.jpg) . The US Princess figure can be seen in front of the Japanese one, there's no doubt which is better.

I don't know what it is...you'd kinda expect sad, lonely, comic geek boys to *demand* more female action figures...or am I stereotyping too much? :P

But yeah, even in the Marvel Legends series I think we've had one female character so far out of around twenty releases. Something definitely needs to be done...

Actually, you're wrong in regards to the Matrix figures.

There were 3 figures for Trinity and one for Switch [the chick in white]. I knew the Switch one existed because at one point I was going to buy it. I have a thing for gun-toting women dressed in white.

Anyway, for proof in the Matrix regards, Switch's write up (http://www.matrixunloaded.com/6s1_switch.html) with links to the Trinity figures. I will admit, they ain't the prettiest things.

Well done action figures are hard to come by, yes. That's why I stick with my collection of Beverly Crushers. And the reason there aren't many female action figures is they don't sell well. Because by and large action figures are bought for boys. Boys don't like playing with female figures because they haven't hit puberty yet. Ahem.

There are female figurines out there though. Like my Silver Sable [who stands on a giant bug for some unexplanable reason], and the Spiral that I will buy someday.

But if you're looking to browse through Female action figures, take a gander at this (http://members.aol.com/sarahdyer/). Though it only covers figurines made up to '99.

ReBoot ones so far are Dot, AndrAIa and Hex. That's it. Only two versions of Dot, the third being so rare as to be unheard of, while I have about 5 of roughly 6 variations on Bob, there's Matrix, Enzo, Megabyte, there's a Ray I don't have, a Phong, Frisket, ferchrissakes... but no Mouse, no new white Hex, no Daemon...

Bah.
