I figured, since there are some history buff type people out there, they could possibly help. And, since Bren doesn't have as much overlap--er, anyway.

My friend, Brenda, says, "If anyone knows of some decent academic websites about the White Horse of Uffington (say, archaeologists' research pages), let me know pleass? :) Can't find much online, going to the library to see if I can find a book on that part of England. My kingdom for a dot edu."

So. Any takers?

these were general (very) that I found..

now as for genuine archeological sites.. well that's a bit more difficult. I knwo a few archeologists in Britain, and elsewhere. However I'd suggest starting with a search of large ground drawings and gleaning information from there.

Paper's finished, just needs a title and the references tacked on the end. I left out the White Horses... too much weirdo misinformation out there on that one, and the prof is a real archaeologist so he knows when someone is trying to palm off... stuff...

Anyhoo. Google didn't want to be my friend tonight, tried every phrasing I could think of and still got maybe five actual academic links out of the pile. It's all good, it's done, well, almost, and I'm going to be in bed by three a.m. Yay. :)

All I know is that it appears on the cover of the album English Settlement by XTC.

Which is, of course, the most important thing about it. :-)
