Coherence, thy name is sloth!

So. Now that I've slept, I have further, more coherent thoughts on Farscape.

First. The very end.

It's the only thing, really. It was John and Aeryn's perfect moment. You don't GET many of those. Ever. But they had it. And they were at PEACE.

As much as I ranted and cried, the end was also very Farscape.

Life always frells the two of them, why should it stop just when they're the happiest?

To that end, there is a sense of closure. It's hard to say if that's because the writers suspected this was the end, or because they wanted viewers to be squirming until season five began. Unfortunately, we may never know.

I have no faith in SciFi putting money towards any sort of further Farscape projects. Henson productions might, but I don't think they can do it without SF.

Which is actually a thought. Who truly owns the rights? CAN they produce further episodes without SF? I know they weren't able to sell it to UPN, but there have to be other stations... WB, the networks. God, they could even go to... Comedy Central.

Hear my sarcasm.

So. I liked the episode. I hate the end emotionally. But I understand it. And I approve, in some ways. I just want to see more.

Because it was an incredible show that deserves more.

Sci-Fi told them they were a go for a fifth season,so that's why we got that cliffhanger (they knew they'd be back)....and then Sci-Fi management changed hands and the new person in charge axed the show (send hate mail to her)
I think Henson and the Australian network that coproduces the show own Farscape and all Sci-Fi did was give them the money to make the series (far as i can tell Sci-Fi can't stop them from shopping the show around now)

The Future of FarScape

You're right- what a wonderful last episode, even given the last 90 seconds. ;)

As for where it goes from here, I've looked into this- SciFi has the rights to the show for two years after the airing of the last episode. After that, they don't, and I *think* Henson gets it. What Henson expects is for SF to milk the hell out of it for 2 years, and then to do a movie (whether TV or theatrical, they don't know) which wraps things up.

Everything I've read seems fairly ambiguous, but that Henson, while not 100% on-board for the movie wrap-up, is considering it very seriously. There are all kinds of "save FarScape" pages out there- while it's too late to save the show as a television show per se, it's not too late to show support for its continuation in another form.

I was as upset as you, until Lee reminded me and I re-viewed my tape for a few times- John and Aeryn aren't dead. They're "neutralized for analysis", and their clothes and the ring weren't vaped- anything strong enough to crystalize them would also have gotten the inorganic stuff, too.
