on a more serious note...

My car is... not great. Last night I went out to check the oil, and, since I felt like it, I used a flashlight, and looked inside the oil thing. It was dry.

So I put 4 quarts of oil in.

Yes. 4.

Tonight, when I got out of the PC, I backed up and looked at the spot where my car had been. Y'know, there was probably 2 quarts on the ground. I opened the thing, added 4 more.

Driving home, however, wasn't great. The car's running roughly, and I belched white smoke the entire way.

Burning plastic, a bit of burning metal. Some of it was probably the oil.

Now I hope dad'll be home soon, since he can help determine what to do. Then I can sleep.

On a happier note, I got a double paycheck from the temp place, and my normal one from the PC. And I now have 11 hours of Farscape. ;)

Thanks, Drake, it made my day. :)

Tom thinks it might be the oil gasket - we had that problem a little while ago. It's not expensive to switch, thank the gods. It's one of those things that needs replacing once in a while.

It could also be the oil seal on the draining plug's corroded. But the white smoke sounds like the oil's leaking onto the engine and burning, so yeah. I think it's the gasket.
