Her temper cannot be tamed even if we think we're numb

1. There is an Elementary rolling remix! if you're into that sort of thing. (it sounds awesome, but I'm two seasons behind at this point)

2. I really need to stop whining mentally about how behind I am and just actually, y'know, catch up on everything (off the top of my head, that includes: POI, Elementary, Sleepy Hollow, Orphan Black, Motive, Scott and Bailey--which, really, JANET AND RACHEL AND I AM BEHIND, WHAT--, Covert Affairs, Lost Girl [I will finish season three, dammit], The Librarians.... Basically, anything that isn't the Clara Oswald Show or Blake's 7 repeats.)

3. I randomly ended up with season two of Haven as audio files to listen to at work and... I sort of miss Haven, but in that "I still feel like I ragequit for a good reason" way. Audrey Parker, I loooove you. Also, season two and the Christmas episode make no sense when taken together. Season two's theme seems to literally be "Audrey Cannot Have a Life or Friends" and then the Christmas episode's theme is "Audrey Needs All Her Friends!" Very confusing (and, like, these are five year old spoilers, ok). Anyway. I'd totally forgotten some of the things from Season Two, and the SURPRISE!Tahmoh during the season finale made me laugh like a loon. (also, EVI, I miss Evi. OK, and, like, Duke has this weirdly uneven characterization that season)

4. Dragoncon happened. It was entertaining. I didn't get out much, but I managed to see a couple panels and score some trades I needed. Saw Nicole and Shayna, and Palmetto (so briefly in passing, but I tweeted!). Room is already set for next year, so, yay.

4b. Saw one panel on Big Finish, and I really couldn't articulate why the whole "Americans don't like radio drama because Stargate fandom hated the SG ones" bugged me while there. But, really, one needs to remember the SGU killed a lot of happy feeling in that fandom and the producer comments during the Lantis cancellation/Torri H. debacle were pretty much a FU to the fans. So them not liking the audio dramas (which I've heard weren't that great anyway, and BF needs to remember that Sirens in Time was AWFUL, and they've had some real hideous ones over the years) isn't a good indication that Americans don't like radio drama. Especially with podcasts, Welcome to Nightvale, and the fact a good 50% of BF sales are probably TO Americans.

4c. A much better American franchise to go for would have been Farscape. Speaking of shows with die-hard fans. (not BSG, because I think that fandom was pretty burned, too)

5. I am up to 40 books on my books read this year list (starting from about a month or so ago), so go me. Some of them are even new books and not re-reads. (given that I think I may have gone almost a year without reading a book while I devoured bad fic... 40 in a month and a half is pretty good) The number does not count the anthologies, I've been keeping them separate.

6. I officially have a new boss (who is the boss of my old boss). Not sure if I've gone up in the world or what.

The rolling remix sounds awesome. So tempting.

I hope that your new boss is a good egg!

They said the same ting at gallifrey wen I was there really sga. They also said at a different time that they understood that the holmes audio were selling to doctor who fans who like holmes - seemed like an obvious extrapolation there. Doctor who fans mostly aren't sga fans.

Ahh. I am unsurprised.

And there's somecrossover from SGA to DW (usually the SGA-BSG-DW route, but).

I think the bigger difficulty might also be that DW, B7, etc. lend themselves really well to audio drama, but SG... doesn't. And while I think Farscape (and, ok, Haven, Lost Girl and possibly a few of the other recent SF offerings) lends itself well to audio-only, that's still a bit niche.

Like, Star Trek would be what I'd compare the DW phenom to, in the sort of "beloved of people for half a century" terms.

In some ways, it's a bit comparing apples to tree frogs - the properties are vastly different in some aspects and in the ways fandom (and the general public) engages with them.

Er, which is a long-winded way to say BF should obviously make Farscape audio plays with Ben and Claudia and Brian Henson should do Labyrinth plays.

I would not recommend catching up on Sleepy Hollow, tbh. Season 1 was excellent but it went very much downhill after that. Season 2 was a hot mess, plot-wise, and the writers decided to push Abbie/Jenny/Frank to the side in favor of Ichabod's family. Season 3 was much better, imo, but it ended in the worst way imaginable and not even my eternal love for Jenny could get me to watch season 4.

I would also suggest not watching Lost Girl past season 3. Seasons 4 and 5 were just not good and I only got through them thanks to Zoie Palmer's face.

You did not make a mistake dropping Haven. I wish I had never seen that entire final season, tbh.

40 books in less than two months is damn impressive, if you ask me. Then again, I'm an extremely slow reader so I usually only manage 40 books (or less) for the whole year.

Sleepy Hollow always makes me so terribly sad. It had such promise - a great premise, two leads with good chemistry (shippy or not), a good supporting cast, and a vast well of mythology to pull from.

And it just... stuttered and fell, even in the first season (Ichabod's wife should have had a much better storyline/actual characterization, for instance). And everything I've heard about two and three just makes me sadder.

I do want to try to watch the rest, though, because I did like Abbie and Ichabod. And Orlando Jones.

I got stuck on the first episode of LG season three, so even if I can manage the rest of that season, I'll be happy (it hits so much of my id, and Kenzi and Bo and Lauren :/ - if only I didn't have to deal with the werewolf guy).

My rage about Haven is mostly back, so I don't think it'll happen anytime soon (I was looking for something else entirely and I re-read my season three review and the frustrated rage is still echoing today. WHY KILL OFF SO MANY WOMEN. GODDAMIT. And Tommy. BECAUSE WTF.)

Haven also suffers from trying to do a new Angle each season, and the Angles don't always mesh with the previous mythology (bolt killer, for instance, doesn't really mesh well with previous stuff). I just--like Sleepy Hollow, it had potential, and it consistently failed to reach that potential with moronic plots and dead women.

I used to manage more books? I'm not fast, but I have a lot of free time on the bus ride to and from work and then lunch and if I come home and just read all evening...

Yeah, it's rare to see a group of writers/show-runners destroy a show as badly as this lot did. The first season wasn't perfect, but it was good. Seasons 2 and 3 just...weren't. It's like the writers in season 2 were determined to eliminate everything people loved about the first season and add in a bunch of nonsense no one cared about. Season 3 was better but still...so much wasted potential.

If you do continue with the show and you make it until the end of season 3, maybe don't watch the season finale? At least without spoiling yourself for what happens because it's just too rage-inducing.

Sadly, Dyson remains annoying through the entire series, though he didn't bother me quite as much in the last two seasons. I guess because the show pretty much dropped the triangle and let Lauren and Dyson because friends. It was weird but it made him more tolerable, at least.

I could've forgiven Haven for the crappy storylines - at least in seasons 1-4 - if they hadn't killed almost all of the women. Alas...

I had a comment, bu t my connection crashed. But. I am sure other people amply said what I was going to say about Stargate fandom and obvious reasons the fans burned out and got bitter.
