lyssie: (Miss Marple has opinions)

no words, no thoughts, onlyyyy dreeeaming

Still not reading the flist, flist (I wouldn't be reading Tumblr if I had one, either)

Here, have the fic round-up meme thing.

1. BSG - Cold Nose Solution - porns, Kara/Sam Anders

2. Doctor Who (Big Finish) - Pedestal - Eight reflects (spoilers for Lucie Miller)

3. Doctor Who - Indescribable Fell Out Through a Hole in the Sun - Lady Jennifer from the War Games runs around and kisses Amy Pond.

4. Doctor Who - Five Times the Doctor Utterly Fails At Delivering a Compliment (and One Time He Does it Accidentally) - River Song/Eleven shenanigans.

5. Doctor Who - Victory Celebrations - Two, Jamie and Zoe.

6. Elementary - Secrets We Keep - Joan/Irene femslash. Speculation prior to the end of the season.

7. Person of Interest When All The Sunlight Feels Forgotten 3x9 fix-it fic.

8. Primeval: New World - Invincible - porn, Ange/Dylan

9. St. Trinians - That Time Annabelle Had Wings - Because every fandom needs wing!fic.

10. Stargate: Atlantis - Game of Two - porn, Jennifer Keller/Ronon Dex

11. Stargate: SG-1 - Movement of the Stars - porn, Sam/Jack

12. Torchwood - Cheap Whiskey - Tosh/Martha drabble set.

13. Crossover: Avengers MCU/St. Trinian's/Primeval/Captain Britain & MI-13 - Red Herring - Natasha punches dinosaurs. I feel like this should be something everyone is writing. (also, technically written in 2012, but revised and edited and posted in 2013)

14. Crossover: Angel: TS/Torchwood crossover Untitled Kate Lockley ficlet - Written for one of the challenges at womenverse.

15. Fandom Stocking ficlets from last year (I don't remember if they were 2012 or 2013 anymore, but they're on the 2013 tag)

My Favourite Story Of The Year: Red Herring. No fucking lie, if someone else had written this, I would be reccing it the fuck everywhere, as it's pretty much everything I want from fic all wrapped up with a bow (femslash! Dinosaurs! plot! random ridiculous crossover bits! St. Trinian's Knowing All The Things!). Unsurprisingly, it appears to be the sort of thing barely anyone wants to read.

My Best Story of the Year: Indescribable Fell Out Through a Hole in the Sun (I think I did some nice things in it, and also had a great deal of fun writing it)

Funniest Story: That Time Annabelle Had Wings. Because, really. Wings.

Sexiest Story: Um.... I seem to remember Game of Two being pretty hot.

Story With The Single Sexiest Moment: See above?

Holy crap, that's wrong even for you! Story: ...nothing surprising this year, I don't think?

I didn't bother with the rest of the questions. I don't think I posted enough stuff to warrant going through them, to be honest. And no one needs to see me whining about the lack of feedback for Red Herring for the billionth time.

I finished off 2013 with yet more regencies (I really should start counting books)

That Scandalous Heiress by Martha Kirkland (I'm pretty sure I haven't read this one before, but there were parts that were familiar. Perhaps Kirkland mined an earlier plot she'd written, or someone else mined this one? I syppose there are only so many regency plots...)
The Seductive Spy by Martha Kirkland (a bit silly at times, but not awful)
A Debt to Delia by Barbara Metzger
To Catch a Scoundrel by Barbara Metzger
Miss Wilson's Reputation by Barbara Metzger
The Scottish Legacy by Barbara Hazard (slightly dull in that all characters sucked but our protagonists)
The Reckless Wager by April Kihlstrom (A little over the top at times, but then the heroine has to rescue the kidnapped hero, and I was all in =D)
The Valentine's Day Ball by Donna Bell (Someone write this down in the history books: I actually enjoyed a Donna Bell novel. Even if the protagonists kept acting like 12-year-olds)
A Dangerous Charade by Anne Barbour
Miss Lockharte's Letters by Barbara Metzger (don't judge me, I love her older regencies. Even if I've read this, like, once every six months)

These are all in no particular order, as I'd stopped keeping track:
An Enchanted Affair by Barbara Metzger (re-read)
The Lady in Green by Barbara Metzger (re-read)
A Season for Scandal by Marian Devon
Miss Armstead Wears Black Gloves by Marian Devon (I adore this one and Georgiana)
Georgiana by Marian Devon (srsly. She shoots the hero. I cannot dislike this book. Re-read)
A Heart on His Sleeve by Marian Devon (not her best, sadly)
An Uncivil Servant by Marian Devon (the start of the Pickering Club! So excellent in that regard, but the romance was a bit skimpy)
The Hampshire Hoyden by Michelle Martin (I said it's Much Ado About Nothing in Regency England, and it is. And it's magnificent)
Queen of Hearts by Michelle Martin (Hard not to follow HH up with this)
The Mad Miss Mathley by Michelle Martin (and Melinda Mathley is engaging and wonderful, so I can't resist re-reading her, either)
The Adventurers by Michelle Martin (MOSCOW RULES in rural England. And cross-dressing. Unf. Again, even. Still love this one, and I swear if a tv version of it was produced I would adore it all to bits. I would personally cast Lydia Leonard as Isabel; sadly, I can think of no giant blond dudes who aren't Thor or Captain America or incapable of acting. Nor can I think of anyone for Jamie, as they'll have to be young yet v talented and with some charisma to carry it all off)
The Rake's Reform by Cindy Holbrook (re-read)
Lady Megan's Masquerade by Cindy Holbrook (re-read, and you can see the bare-bones of every book she's written since in this one)
The Actress and the Marquis by Cindy Holbrook (re-read)
Lord Sayer's Ghost by Cindy Holbrook (re-read. What is it about Holbrook and her fondness for tall rangey dudes with dark hair and silver eyes? Did she imprint on Tom Baker at a young age?)
Miss Kendal Sets Her Cap by Marian Devon (re-read. Ah, Freddie. <3)
Best Laid Schemes by Emma Jensen (re-read. I did say I'd done so)
A Grand Design by Emma Jensen (re-read. It's unfortunate that His Grace Endures is sadly dull)
Mistletoe and Folly by Marian Devon (I may have read this one, once, but I don't remember it if so)
On the Road to Gretna Green by Marian Devon (Not a re-read, but delightful all the same)
Scandal Broth by Marian Devon (not one of her better efforts, sadly)
Charade of Hearts by Paula Tanner Girard (re-read. Sadly not as entertaining as I'd remembered it being)
Christmas Wishes by Barbara Metzger (re-read, and sadly a bit dull)
Escapade by Marian Devon (re-read. and ok, I sortof read like half of Georgiana again, since they're in the same book and also, Lord Garth is terribly charismatic and Georgie does shoot him that one time. My id. have you seen it lately?)

Tried to read:
The Diamond Key by Barbara Metzger (idk. It was just so dull. And the female protagonist was so sweet and rich and... there was just no conflict. I kept waiting for something to happen and nothing did. So I stopped reading)
Miss Maitland's Letters by Martha Kirkland
Mr. Montgomery's Quest by Martha Kirkland (I think I've read this before; dull and kind of annoying, since the hero hates "women who act like men" fu, too, hero)
Katie and the Soldier by Anne Barbour (I think I've read this one before and it was a bit dull)

I rang in the new year with a re-read of Reforming Lord Ragsdale (Emma Costello, she owns my heart) (the author is the redoubtable Carla Kelly).

I also watched some tv.

1. Miss Fisher - Christmas special. Very entertaining, and Mac is always hot (who knew Tammy MacIntosh would be hotter cross-dressing when she was wearing leather skirts and bustiers?)

2. Marple 'Endless Night'. Dull. I think I could have managed it if the protagonist had at least been attractive. But he was an ugly, weaselly dude who spent a lot of time whiiiiiining about money and his class in life. I managed barely twenty minutes before jumping around, attempting to find Glynis Barber. (Not even Tamzin Outhwaite could save it, flist. And I still find her hot, so I should go watch Red Cap instead)

3. Midsomer Murders 16x1 (I don't remember the title right now). BEN. DS OF MY HEART. He is gone forever, off being a DI on his own (good job, boy). I enjoyed this one, though. I liked the new DS, even if he's yet another white dude. I was actually one step ahead of Barnaby on this one, though. At least my brain was working. ok, also, having his wife get pregnant is so dull, MM writers. I mean, really?

4. Person of Interest 3x11. ngl, if the spoilertag doesn't work, I'm sorry. BUT. BUT. OH MY STARS AND GARTERS. Camryn Manheim is CONTROL! SHE IS EVIL AND AMAZING AND I LOVE HER. Also, surprise!Artie was entertaining. I still very much enjoyed the show, and I love love LOVE what they're doing with Root. Also. Also, Fusco vs John. John, you know Carter would be there kicking your ass if she could. Fusco's just standing in for her.

I copy-edited at least one of the books you read! This fills me with glee.
