"Nevertheless, what you enjoyed was still pretty lousy television and I guarantee that, unless you make a real study of it, you won't remember a damned thing about it a year from now."
WHY ARE PEOPLE LIKE THIS STILL WATCHING THE SHOW?
I do not fucking get it. You don't like it. Fine. MOVE THE FUCK ON, YOU PRETETENTIOUS FUCKER.

(ETA: the "lousy" and "won't remember it a year from now" bits, not the "enjoy" bit.)

Anyway, those of us enjoying stuff are having much more fun. (That's not really a sentence you can argue with too hard.)
And, really, I don't remember specific eps of any TV show properly unless I've watched them a few times. So I suppose it's a reasonable suggestion, after all.
IGNORE THEM. It's okay. Somebody's always Wrong On The Internet. And wrong with authority, too. (Two would never approve. ;-D)

Also, I can totally get not appreciating or enjoying something--but when it gets to that point: stop watching. It isn't that difficult (and if you watch, whyyyy must you pretentiously state your opinions, whyyyy)
please ignore those times I have been remarkably pretentious over my opinions, ahembut setting yourself up as somehow the authority on what everyone should think and feel about a show? <-- I really do think it was that bit which I found so utterly egregious that I COULD NOT.

Whatever it's about, I understand watching something you might dislike a good chunk of the time. (I wouldn't say 'hate-watching' because people who do that seem to be specifically looking for every little misstep in a episode and I don't really get that.) There are one or two shows that piss me off more than they please me but I keep watching for one or two characters I really love.
It's fine to say you don't like something or to talk about what you don't like about it. The problem I have is when people who dislike a show (or a storyline/character/couple/etc) insult fans who do. That, imo, is when people should shut up. You don't like it, fine. But don't tell me that I'm wrong or stupid because I do. Don't assume you know anything about me or my viewing habits simply because I like something you don't (or dislike something you love.)
So while I don't mind people watching a show they dislike in the hopes that it might someday improve or because watching it is just a habit, I do mind when those people shit all over fans who still enjoy the show or rant about why those fans are wrong for doing so.

I think my problem is that I have pretty much zero respect for people who absolutely hate something but continue to watch it and then broadcast their opinions all over the place. Don't like something? Fine. stop watching. THIS IS NOT HARD TO DO, I SWEAR. SG: Atlantis? Yeah, season four got bad, imo, so instead of continuing to watch and talking about how awful/stupid it was every week? I stopped watching.
Amazingly, the world didn't end.

What series or fandom did this happen in out of curiosity.

I got to have a total hate-on for the X-Files near the end, and then I just went, "Wait...why am I watching a series about which I enjoy NOTHING anymore?"
So, I found other things to watch/do. Result? I enjoyed myself more, the series went on without me and limped to a close, and I found other things to love. People on my flist loved the last seasons and I go, "Eh, wasn't really my cup of tea" and CHANGED THE SUBJECT.
If you voluntarily watch a series you hate and you find yourself disgusted and not entertained, I'm thinking there's really only one person to blame there. And there's a simple solution. Hint...it doesn't involve demanding Moffat's head on a pike.
