sff: The I feel like I never have a proper title for this anymore edition

DW: 'Cold War'

My reaction to this episode can be best described as: "EeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeEEE!!!! HADS HADS! EEeeeeeEEEEE!! ICE WARRIORS!"

And then I possibly bounced on the couch. */embarrassed*

I know I keep saying this, but Moff's era really does hit all my kinks (LET ME TELL YOU ABOUT MY LUST FOR SUBMARINES especially ones stranded on the bottom of the ocean... or not; ALSO RED OCTOBER. Oh, and Ultravox, once upon a time, and DAMMIT, DAVID WARNER. unf. Also, how many BF audios did this episode make me think of? Eeee. =D =D =D <3)

Which makes it hard to be in any way objective. So, while I'm sure there were objectionable things about this episode, it made me a ball of squee.

If you disliked it, I don't care. I also don't want to know. Enjoying this show is difficult enough outside of my own lj, holy fuck, without people coming in and telling me how awful it is.

Orphan Black 1x3

I found myself less enthused about this episode, and I can't even say why--I think my reaction to DW was too distracting or something.

BUT ART HAS A THING FOR BETH. Also, she saved his life--except that I think the gunman was going after her and not him and omg. I just. THIS IS A BUDDY COP SHOW IN DISGUISE.

I want all the Alison/Sarah hatesex, fandom.

The plot thickens!

The backlash against Moff's era has been interesting. I guess there was a similar thing near the end of RTDs era too. I've enjoyed both eras and often for different reasons. Probably prefer Moff, but he's always been able to write in the way that I want to see. (His DW short story was my favorite SS. His episode "Overkill" (IIRC) of Murder Most Horrid was my favorite ep. "The Empty Child/Doctor Dances" was my favorite Chris ep while "Blink" was my favorite David ep. I even LOL at Coupling whenever I see it.)

I guess it has. I just feel really sad that everyone who was soooo enthusiastic over the series when it first came back seems to have wandered off.

(but, to be fair, I didn't like most of RTD's over-melo-dramaDRAMMADRAMUH-tic era, so I really can't throw any stones here--which is hilarious, coming from someone who owns most of the Virgin NA line, something so full of ridiclously over-melodramatic crap at times that it drips from the pages)

I first met Moff with Coupling, and still quite enjoy it. I will one day get round to watching Jekyll, but I need to be in the right mood for horror/drama stuff.

I'm glad i wasn't the only one who got way too excited about HADS.

This episode made up for last week's.

Jeff and I were both way too excited. "Holy crap, is that an Ice Warrior? It is! They haven't been seen since *wikis it* third doctor! OMG!"

I KNOW RIGHT. It was amazing to see (and they've been in some of the Big Finish audios, Virgin's old NA line and probably some of the BBC books so I've encountered them since--but not on teeveeeeee!!)

basically, all moff has to do now is run another Peladon story at some point, and he will have won forever. =D

I'm still here with the DW loving! Just quietly and avoiding the haters. No time for people harshing on my squee! Get mocked enough at work cos I get cross that working in retail means I NEVER get home in time to watch it on the telly box and have to wait for BBC to upload it to iplayer.

Yay! =D

*dances about*

I have to wait until it airs on BBC America, which is somewhat later than UK time. And sometimes, I have to exile myself, so I don't look at spoilers.

I liked this episode, too. Clara hanging out with the 80s rock-loving professor dude was fun times, and it was a scary episode without being OH NO MUST BE AFRAID FOREVER.
