The Fanfiction Writer’s Questionnaire

-> List all the fandoms you have written in:

We might be here a while.

Doctor Who, Excalibur/X-Men/X-Force, Cosmic Marvel, Law and Order: Criminal Intent, F/X: the Series, Blake's 7, Leverage, Buffy: the Vampire Slayer/Angel, Firefly, Farscape, The Pretender, St. Trinian's, Resident Evil (movies), Alice in Wonderland (Burton), Underworld (movies), Lord of the Rings, Haven, The Mummy, Babylon Five, Battlestar Galactica (2003), Stargate: Atlantis, Stargate: SG-1, X-Men movieverse, Avengers movieverse, Eureka, Beauty and the Beast (CW), Bones, Aeon Flux (movie), Coupling, Dresden Files (TV series), Event Horizon, Rumpole of the Bailey, Poirot, Pirates of the Carribbean, X-Files, Snow White and the Huntsman, Tin Man, Torchwood, ReBoot, Nikita, Foyle's War, Primeval, Howl's Moving Castle, Painkiller Jane (TV series), Star Trek: The Next Generation, Terminator (movies), NCIS, Burn Notice, Bomb Girls, Bionic Woman (2007), Earth 2, Lost Girl, Chase, Elementary, Fringe, House, Ghost in the Shell (SAC), Revenge, Red Cap, Person of Interest, Star Wars, Spooks, RPFS, Supernatural, The Bletchley Circle, Sherlock Holmes (Ritchie-verse, also canon/genderswap), Lord of the Rings, Twin Peaks, Touching Evil (UK).

I think I've written scenes, but no actual fics finished and/or posted: Ruse, Sojourn, Sanctuary, Route 666, Tank Girl, Miss Marple, Narnia, Lifetime's Missing, Ghostbusters, In Plain Sight, 9 Lives of Chloe King, Once Upon a Time, Drop Dead Gorgeous (movie), Covert Affairs, Pan Am, Wish Me Luck, Continuum.

Probably a third of those are crossovers.

-> How many published fics have you written?

500+ is possibly a good estimate.

-> In terms of wordcount, in which fandom have you written the most?

Off the top of my head, probably SG-1. (I haven't written as many epic-length BSG fics)

-> At the moment, which one of your fics is your favorite/you are the most proud of? (you can include unpublished fics)

Cauterized People is still my most favorite title ever. I'm also really really proud of both Green Light District and Tigermoth. (I may also be slightly miffed that "St. Trinian's exists in the Avengers movieverse" has not resulted in a hundred thousand "...and that was when Polly realized Annabelle could read minds" type fics. I suppose I'll have to imagine my own wish fulfilment)

Ok, ok, and, oldie but goodie, Alphabet Soup. The entire Sesame Street Alphabet record, you guys. I am amazing.

-> Which writer (fanfiction or not) inspires your own work?

um... I don't know? Like, I'm fond of many authors, but I'm not sure I'd take them as inspirations. Unless you mean of the 'that fic was so bad, I can write better' sort of inspiration. In which case, there have been any number, though I don't recall them.

-> What was your first fanfic about?

Kitty Pryde and Buffy Summers kick ass in LA, then get back together with Pete Wisdom and Angel in a really gooey, heartfelt fashion.

Oh, you mean published. Ahem. Kitty tells Pete that leaving is stupid, and they act like adults instead of badly-written caricatures (Excalibur #120 has a great deal to answer for)

-> Out of all the characters whose POV you have written, which one do you feel you identify the most with?

Kitty Pryde, Sam Carter, Gwen Cooper?

-> What do you feel is your biggest challenge when writing?

Not letting everyone sound the same, and keeping some vague plot going.

-> Do you generally outline your fics or do you prefer to write spontaneously and then revise?

Spontaneous, until I'm sludging through going "wtf", then some revising. I've found that outlining makes me uninterested in finishing, as I already know what's happening.

-> Which one of your fanfics has the most hits? the most comments? the most kudos? (if applicable)

Cauterized People, I think? Or Attached.

-> What proportion, if any, of your fics are rated M or above

Hrm. About 35%? Maybe more like 45%? I've never really sat down and counted, though I've certainly done a lot of PWP in my day.

-> Finally, tease us with the title of one of your upcoming fics:

Um. The only thing I can think of that's even remotely got a title is Red Herring and that was only to keep in the theme of things. Also. Audience of me. So.

I don't much go in for titles before finishing--titling is usually the last thing I do, and I loathe the damned things.
