Wide awake sucks

Is anyone else having issues with LJ taking foooorreeeverrrrr to do anything? Because it's really getting on my nerves (it was pretty bad last night, too). Every other webpage I visit is fine, but LJ almost refuses to load for me.

Which wasn't why I'm posting, but it occurred to me as I waited for the post an entry page to load with intense irritation.

There was some sort of convention going on. I had a room all to myself. In the morning, I learned there was this buffet thing going on. But getting there was sort of weird--you had to go down to basement level and use a series of walkways and then the subway to get to where the tables were laid out with food (I think I also took the subway to get to the hotel).

Along the hall from the hotel to the subway were small coffee stations--all of them were empty, so as I went down the hallway, I started coffee at each one.

Then the subway was crowded (many congoers had been up for longer than me).

Lots of food was laid out on tables, but most of it had been eaten when I got there. And what hadn't been eaten was being charged for. Well, I'd left my wallet in my room (and my con badge, but some of the people there knew me, so I didn't get thrown out). So, for a while I just stood around and talked and joked with some other people at the con. Then finally, someone refreshed one of the free tables with some sort of eclaire and a bunch of different flavored breads.

I grabbed an eclair and two slices of bread and high-tailed it back to my room (at some point prior to that, I'd ridden the subway all over the place, and knew where every stop was--talking about that figured into the conversations, too).

Walking back down the hallway, most of the coffee was gone (again), and I had to tell one dude (who looked like Teller from Penn and Teller--I think it was actually the character he played in the one Babylon Five episode he was in this dude, I don't remember from what, but he had a sort of silvery makeup, and was very sad. And weird. And sort of looked like Teller? Except it wasn't him, and he had a sort of high-pitched voice, and I can picture him now, but I cannot remember where he is or from. argh. He was a hairdresser? Or something. Maybe in--omg, it was Danny Webb's character from the new Marple 'At Bertram's Hotel'. Way to be weird, brain) how to start the coffee again, as he was messing with the machine and a bit upset that there was no coffee. I grabbed a cup from the last machine and ate my eclaire.

Back in the stairwell, I hot-footed it up to my floor and discovered I'd left my room key in my room, and would have to go back down and get out in the lobby (the lobby was an amalgamation of hotels--I've seen it in my dreams before) and go to the front desk to have someone let me in. This had happened to someone else I'd been talking to earlier. I just hoped they believed it was me as I didn't even have my wallet!

So. Back down the stairwell I went, running (because I could), swinging around the turns as I mentally counted the floors.

But at the basement level (no access to lobby), I hit the last step and turned, expecting to find the exit door again only to find a set of stairs leading up. So I swung around and ran up them.

There was a man standing at the door, and he opened it, ushering me through.

The room was dark. I don't know what was in it--there was a flash of light, but I have no idea what was there. I only know that it terrified me so fast and so much that I woke up with prickles all over my skin--y'know, that sort of heated fear response you can sometimes get.

Now I'm creeped-out and wide awake. I might try going back to sleep, I don't know.

LJ was slow for me this morning too, so slow I thought it was down, but I hit reload then went to another tab and eventually I came back and it was there.

Seems to be a period of time in the mornings, I've noticed... it starts wading through a sea of molasses.
