these accidents of faith and nature

1. The (Totally Not) Annual femslash_today Porn Battle is taking prompts. MY SQUEAK OF GLEE ON SEEING IT HIT MY FLIST, YOU GUYS. I can't even. =D <3

2. Ladyfest 2012 - Remember the Awesome Ladies FicFest from two years ago? Yeah, this is in the same vein. Go forth and put more than Buffy/Angel prompts on there, goddamn.

3. Ladyloves f/f comment ficathon is also still going (still very few prompts my brain likes, but whatever. Looks like the porn battle might get some better ones)

4. Serious question: should the next line in the fic I'm writing be "And that's when the vampire attacks"? I was writing on the assumption that this was a magic/vampire-less AU, but the story keeps wanting to twist into something else. Of course, I'm not sure why vampires would be preying on the relatively peaceful--and I just answered my own question. Hrm.

5. Might I just note that River Song would not hire Inara Serra so they could sit around bitching about men? Because that's one of the prompts on the Ladyfest, and I am just like what are you even smoking at it (rly). Also, the River/Rose prompts on the f/f thing. What is up with that? (I don't mind the concept, but most of them are veiled "they miss the Doctor, and he is so totally the center of their universes" stuff which, bleh--there was one good one, though, it's sitting in this file, waiting for more than vague "that's a good prompt" inspiration to hit)

Dear idiot f/f writers:

Most women do not base their lesbian relationships on the shared lack of a man.

See "which is the fork in this pair of chopsticks" argument if you need clarification.

no love,

Precisely. And I know, given that a lot of fandoms have a lot of het canon/implications/subtext, that it's hard to divorce from that. But, sheesh, most people don't mind if you handwave the dude (maybe if there was as much femslash as there is dudeslash, we'd have conversations about why you have to break up canon pairings and treat the dudes with more than a two-sentence note about them).

Although it's possible the River/Rose person was going for a screwed-up aspect to their whole relationship, it's a bit much to assume "well, they can't have the Doctor, so they're left with each other. And angst."

You saw those too? I WTF-faced at them... hence my attempt at something less.... awkwardly 'we miss Dr'-esque. God only knows if it worked. *shrug*

Yeah. And was baffled by them (I guess they're Hurt/Comfort prompts or something, idek).

And thank you for more prompts! I've been staring at most of them going "...meh."

Also, to continue the TW:MD conversation, I was an incandescent rage pillar for a while about Vera (I LOVED HER SO). I'm mostly over it, but sometimes, something will remind me of my rage.

I'm happy that at least the people involved with new TW are getting money?
