becoming x

1. I am trying to not feel guilt over bowing out of fslash_today for two months. (I was running on a serious case of "I hate and despise EVERY large femslash fandom I have to link" and thought a break would be a really good idea)

2. This five-day work week is going to be hard to get used to.

3. Pan Am is back. All the feelings ever. Why is it not next Sunday?

4. Lost Girl won't be back for two weeks. sigh. Almost a whole month! arrgh.

5. Here, have that tv meme, since I am going to bed and keep forgetting to post it.
WHICH TV SHOWS DID YOU START WATCHING IN 2011?
Lots, shockingly. Once Upon a Time, Person of Interest, Pan Am, MIT (Murder Investigation Team), Revenge, Scott and Bailey (on hiatus until '12 iirc), Nine Lives of Chloe King (canceled)

WHICH TV SHOWS DID YOU LET GO OF IN 2011?
Nikita, I think (I'm sorry, but I just... Idk. I hit that straw that broke the camel moment with Jaden's pointless death). Alphas (then again, I never really picked it up, but it was so so so awful). Spooks (seasons nine and ten are dead to me; sorry, Beth, Erin and Ruth). And Sanctuary, I just... lost interest (and nothing I've heard has made me interested in watching again)

WHICH TV SHOWS DID YOU MEAN TO GET INTO BUT DIDN'T IN 2011?
...um.... New Tricks, Sensitive Skin and Life on Mars (mostly because I've been marauding my way through other things)

WHICH TV SHOWS DO YOU INTEND ON CHECKING OUT IN 2012?
None? I don't even know what's coming out. Although there is a rumor there will be more Primeval (it will be so bad, but I'll enjoy it anyway). And probably the ones listed in the response before this.

WHICH TV SHOW IMPRESSED YOU LEAST IN 2011?
Haven and Nikita are probably tied for second (for the same reason, too). But Spooks season ten takes the winning position.

WHICH TV SHOW DO YOU THINK YOU MIGHT LET GO OF IN 2012 UNLESS THINGS SIGNIFICANTLY IMPROVE?
Haven. C'mon, it's not that hard to have two main female characters. Fucking work at it, you assholes.

WHICH TV SHOWS DO YOU THINK YOU'LL NEVER LET GO OF NO MATTER HOW CRAPPY THEY GET?
Pan Am, Revenge, OUaT, Scott and Bailey, and Leverage. Oh, and Doctor Who (no rly. cold dead hands goddamn)

I miss Kenzi and Bo. Lost Girl needs to come back ASAP. Me no likey hiatus.

I was so pissed about Jaden. So pissed. It really kept me from being as excited about the finale as I probably would have been otherwise. The whole end of the season just felt depressing after that. And then, IDK, everything I heard about season 2 sounded good and I slowly started to get excited again and season 2 has been, for the most part, really really good. I'm still pissed, I still miss her, I still think there are a million other more interesting things they could have done with her...I wanted her and Alex to be epic frenemies. But I just love my girls and their amazing relationship too much to let go over it. Season 2 does give a lot more Amanda (who seems to have filled every available Division post with women - seriously, every time they have a scene there it's easily 90% women doing stuff in the background), and a couple of interesting recurring women (Alberta Watson, you are glorious). I just...still pissed, but they gave me so many new things (and new women) to love this season. I feel kind of bad for not maintaining my righteous anger? Because I was so unhappy, but...gah

Jaden is judging me for my lack of commitment to hating stupid plotlines.

Also - I'm guessing I can safely take Haven off my list of shows to eventually get around to watching?

AND YOU WILL ALSO HAVE TO PRY DOCTOR WHO FROM MY COLD DEAD HANDS I DON'T CARE HOW RIDICULOUS AND CONVOLUTED THE STORYLINE GETS
BUT YOU'LL NEVER GET AS FAR AS MY COLD DEAD HANDS BECAUSE RIVER SONG WILL SHOOT YOU

Heh. No, I didn't expect other people to ragequit (and it wasn't just Jaden, that was simply the final moment where I went "I am not enjoying this show" and stopped watching).

And I don't judge, either--it's still a show with women doing things that aren't dictated by the men in their lives (or the ones 'behind the scenes', like bits of Lost Girl and Once Upon a Time)

Haven is.... sigh. Entertaining? But intensely frustrating.

And your capslock is correct (I mean, goddamn, I didn't give it up when there were bubble-wrap monsters, after all)

I got the same with [livejournal.com profile] comicstore_news - I was have a little melt-down with every edition, and eventually, [livejournal.com profile] lilacsigil took it out of my clenched hands and put me on break. And I'm back to it now, and enjoying it again.

Sanctuary was... there were some good episodes, and some mediocre episodes and some really clangers. I think I like writing fic for the fandom more than I like the actual watching of the show.

Ugh. I was... intensely cranky and annoyed every week--I'll probably be fine to do it again in a few months. Just. Right now? It makes me want to write spiteful, vindictive rants about the fandoms that I cannot stand and how they need to die in a volcano.

My relationship with Sanctuary has never been particularly good--I expected so much from it, and it didn't deliver very well. So I stopped expecting anything and it delivered even less. And then there was a half-season finale that left me wondering why I was even watching it anymore.

But, um, I'm pretty good at dropping shows, these days.

Heh. Yes. Now, if I actually gave a shit about Rumples (or Henry), I'd manage to watch the most recent episode.

[identity profile] ellestra.livejournal.com 2012-01-11 04:15 am (UTC)(link)
3. I just dropped it.

4. I miss it, too. I'm so glad it has 22 episodes this season.

5.
2011 ended up pretty nice. I love Revenge and OUaT. I like PoI. I miss Nine Lives of Chloe King.

Nikita is still among my favourite shows - a lot of women scheming + guns, action and semi-sf is almost exactly the definition of what I like best. But Haven really got on my nerves last season with it's killing and disappearing female characters.

I try to avoid never but I certainly can't imagine leaving Doctor Who.

Hey, I feel the same about you and Nikita.

PanAm was always a long shot for me as I dislike 60s generally and the aesthetically. I started watching because of Cristina Ricci but found myself loosing interest with every episode and I don't care enough to come back to it after the break.
