Revenge was back, yay

Not that I have many thoughts on it, aside from not finding Nolan Teh Most Awesome Evah. Fandom and I are never going to see eye to eye on anything. Pity.

The cover at the end was by Lissie. No relation.

lol, exactly :)

My favorite Revenge characters list would look like this:

ALL THE WOMEN >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Nolan

To be fair, I'd stack Nolan before the rest of the men, so. But yes. All the women, first.

Oh, without a doubt. I do think Nolan's fascinating from a character stand-point but a) I'm not sure I actually like him? and b) the female characters get most of my attention :)

I gave up on Revenge around episode seven, but I was still interested enough to take a look at the Yuletide fic selection... and that was just sad. Almost all fic about Nolan, hardly any fic for the rest of the cast.

I just don't get it.

Yeah. I wasn't very impressed with the Yuletide offerings (and I am not impressed with the "But if there are more women, of course there will be more femslash" arguments I see anymore, as Revenge proves that if there's a white cock available, women will still get screwed for time in fandom).

*sigh* I've been having reading comprehension fail. Sorry.

I like Nolan. I like most of the characters, or I dislike them as I'm supposed to? IDEK. :)

He's the fandom woobie/big love. Basically, fandom went, "women are boring, YAY WHITE COCK" again.

I can see where Nolan would appeal to the ones who like to write 12 year old girls as their mens, I admit. (I can also see him as a fairly interesting, complex character. Though I kind of prefer Jack, of the mens; they're making Daniel a little too bland and perfect overall.)

I kind of want to see a lot more of the warden from Emily/Amanda's past, though.

(Not)Emily plotting is among my favourite things. The only thing I like more is Victoria's backstabbing with a smile.

Then there are Ashley and (Not)Amanda. Then Nolan. I sympathise with all of them. Ashley being the one who actually wants to reach success on her own, Amanda finding what she always missed in someone elses life and Nolan's inability to fit in and him being on Emily's side as he too mourns the same person. I also found myself drawn to Nolan and Emily dynamics because he is the only one who knows and refuses to leave her alone and keeps her from being completely consumed by revenge but at the same time supporting it and the fact that she out-schemes him every time.

This show is the greatest thing, because of how both Jack and Daniel (...okay, also because of their names, haha, but anyway) have NO IDEA what is going on. Typically shows I've seen where such things are an issue, it's always the women who have no idea what's going on and are forced to make decisions with incomplete knowledge, and the level of knowledge they get to have is decided for them by the men. This way is so much better. Daniel has no idea what his parents did or who Emily really is and Jack has no idea who either of them are and neither of them know David Clarke was innocent and aside from their teenage siblings they are the most clueless characters ever, subject to the whims of Emily, Victoria, and 'Amanda' and I love this SO MUCH, you have no idea.

I think the show would lose something if Emily didn't have Nolan to interact with, as the only person who knows who she is and what she's up to, but I am definitely not in love with him to the exclusion of all other characters, including her, like those people are. But that outcome was obvious as soon as he became the primary vehicle to slash fic, anyway.

Dude every time I try to search my itunes for Lissie I always type Lyssie first and then get really confused as to why it can't find it! I blame you entirely.
