a quick wtf

dear people who want Christmas music now. WTF IS WRONG WITH YOU? FFS, IT IS NOT EVEN THANKSGIVING YET.

This quick rage brought to you by not one, but TWO RADIO STATIONS going over to being ALL CHRISTMAS ALL THE TIME a week ago. Losing two out of six stations I can tolerate is annoying.

NO, SERIOUSLY. WTF IS WRONG WITH THESE PEOPLE?

SO. MUCH. RAGE.

Why do they hate us?

The whole "celebrating Christmas before Thanksgiving" thing drives me NUTS.

I wish more people got the Nordstrom memo (http://www.mlive.com/entertainment/index.ssf/2011/11/nordstrom_takes_a_stand_agains.html)!

Now I'm not defending this, and I do agree it's to early for Christmas music. But, to be fair, some of us had Thanksgiving a month ago. :D

Drives me crazy, it does. Now, the stations I listen to don't do Christmas music anyway, but the ones my husband listens to? Yeah, all Christmas, all the time. I'm stuck with it whenever we're in the car together. *headdesk*

What...we still have Thanksgiving? There is like no mention at all on tv or newspapers here, just Xmas.

[identity profile] tnhand1022.livejournal.com 2011-11-15 03:21 pm (UTC)(link)
AGREED. I keep telling myself I'm going to start spending the holiday season in Israel. And by "holiday season" I mean October 15 - Jan 1.

I was happy to have the Christmas music at work, but that's only because our store manager hates the radio and keeps it turned off. As part of the holiday thing, home office has MADE him keep the music on. In our case, Christmas music is better than no music, with the added bonus of knowing it's pissing our manager off.

UGH, YES! XMAS MUSIC BEFORE DECEMBER IS JUST EVIL AND WRONG AND IT NEEDS TO STOP!

[identity profile] trinalin.livejournal.com 2011-11-15 11:41 pm (UTC)(link)
I will not force anyone else to listen to my Christmas music (and I avoid radio stations), but if I don't start before Thanksgiving, I can't get my entire Xmas collection listened to before Epiphany!

[identity profile] ladyniko.livejournal.com 2011-11-16 01:25 am (UTC)(link)
I have avoided the 2 STL stations that went Christmas 24/7 with the start of November. Hell, one of the HD stations went Christmas in July!

I am looking forward to Christmas, but I agree with Nordstroms - one holiday at a time. Don't start shoving Christmas down my throat before Halloween. :)

You're right, they should totally play Thanksgiving music all through Novem--OH SNAP THERE'S NO SUCH THING. Christmas rules.

I thought Thanksgiving was canceled this year due to National Greed Day getting pushed forward to Thursday. Why be grateful when you can just elbow strangers in the face at two o'clock in the morning for the chance to save three dollars on some useless gadget made in a Chinese sweat shop.

[identity profile] curlyjo1.livejournal.com 2011-11-16 06:04 am (UTC)(link)
2am? Several of the stores are starting at 9 or 10pm on Thursday night.

[identity profile] kiri-l.livejournal.com 2011-11-19 06:04 am (UTC)(link)
Ha! I found a list where there were stores open all day on Thanksgiving.. and opening early (3 to 5am on Friday)

[identity profile] curlyjo1.livejournal.com 2011-11-19 07:34 am (UTC)(link)
I'll be at work regular hours that day.

[identity profile] abates.livejournal.com 2011-11-16 04:51 am (UTC)(link)
The DJ on the radio this morning said "Right, I'm going to start playing Snoopy's Christmas, and I'll stop it if ten people ring in and tell me to stop playing it." By the time the song ended, he'd had 5 people ring up to tell him to stop, and 8 people ringing up to tell him to keep playing it. I guess that means it's democratically decided?

[identity profile] kiri-l.livejournal.com 2011-11-19 06:03 am (UTC)(link)
That's not fair.. it's snoopy! Another song however.....

*goes to play the red baron tune*

Over here we don't even have another holiday before Christmas... At least you have. Thnaksgiving so some places may lay off until after that. It's already a free for all here :(

[identity profile] kiri-l.livejournal.com 2011-11-19 06:05 am (UTC)(link)
I have no idea. There were places with xmas decorations and music playing in early october. (might have been sept..but I was there in early oct)
