lyssie: (Bo and Kenzi are on the case!)

I played TV catch-up over the weekend.

On various recs from my flist, I watched Pan Am and Revenge. I also caught up on Lost Girl (except for 2x6, as the file I had was wrong)

Revenge I mostly watched on ABC's site, which isn't so fun, as I loathe commercials. Ugh. Mostly worth it, though. (I'm liking how it's all complicated, but the women aren't being demonized for having sex? If that makes sense)

Pan Am is silly, but fun. I like all the main female characters, and Dean is sort of blandly useful. The other dude is sweet, but kind of an ass. Also. Goran Visnjic is pretty.

Lost Girl had some excellent bits in the two episodes (srsly, drunk bffs joking about curses = awesome). Also, is it wrong of me to hate the new Ash? Because I do. And wish a great deal of ill on him. (and half an episode with bad accents about Dyson's past = SO BORING)

Once Upon a Time 1x2 was... nice? The little boy is really obnoxious, though. And I sort of feel like, even though all of the women have the power, the men (or, Rumpels) manipulate them? idk.

The Body Farm. Mainlined all of the first series, and while it's all right, I feel frustrated at how it has so many flashbacks. I don't think they help at all, and the science would be more interesting, but is ignored. (also, I have this weird id-reaction to Mike in that I want to climb him like a tree. ahem.) I like the characters--except the cop, whom I find a complete asshole.

(between Revenge and Once Upon a Time, I'm really missing Eastwick, too. sigh)

ALSO. Covert Affairs was back, and there was shirtless, unscrupulous Jai. Mwah.

I shall try to have more intelligent thoughts at a later date.

I'm not sure I like Once Upon a Time. I"m also not sure I like Grimm. I do think it's interesting that Grimm is so very male-oriented while Once Upon a Time seems to be more women-oriented, so they're not nearly as similar as the one-line descriptions would make them seem. But the melodrama in OUAT is starting to bother me. Sigh.

Yeah, see what I meant about Ted? I'm all "I should hate you...but don't." I think Maggie summed it up well though.

Now if I can just get you to watch ringer, I can pester you about all my shows on IM.

ETA: For once, I think we're actually sitting at thr popular table in hating the new Ash.

Pan Am is cute but I'm a few eps behind and not really rushing to see them, despite liking all the female characters.

Lost Girl 2x06 was my favorite from season 2, to date. 2x05, with all the Dyson crap, my least favorite. His angst has annoyed me all season but that blow-up he had at Kenzi in episode 4 is when he landed himself on my douche-list. I no longer have any tolerance for him...but I guess he's still better than new!Ash? Honestly, I wish we could lose them both forever.

ITA with your thoughts about Once Upon a Time + Covert Affairs :)

The Body Farm could be really good, but to my mind it's not quite there yet. For one thing, the droning monologues at beginning and end were really starting to annoy me.

Wah! When was Covert Affairs on?! I missed this!

You are not even remotely a bad person for hating the new Ash. I would like to burn him with unholy fire every time his smarmy face appears on screen. And since Fae muckety-mucks don't exactly have a pattern of having Hidden Complex Depths What Might Make Me Re-evaluate My Opinion, I feel quite comfortable with this.

Grimm, I'm just giving a wide pass (yet another show about Dudes Investigating is just... not my thing). But, yes. I shall probably continue watching for things like Emma with a chainsaw, or smashing a guy's face into a steering wheel.

YES. Like, I didn't even mind that one episode with Ted Backstory stuff (I mostly just snickered a lot).

Ringer, I'm not so sure about.

Hoooray, for the popular table (also, as much as she's really awful, I still prefer the Morrigan--AND AND, at least she doesn't try to even act like it's perfectly normal that she's, y'know, evil. She just is.)

OMG HIS YELLING AT KENZI. I might've actually said aloud "diaf, Dyson."

eta; also, my thoughts on 2x6 and 2x7 will have to be written up shortly. yes.

Yes, those. I sort of guess they think they need them, but, like some of the over-the-top melodrama (and, erm, the way all of them save Hale are written sort of inconsistently) and the flashbacks, I think they should be cut.

Sigh. I wanted to like it without reservations, and couldn't (and for once, I think a show did a decent job with sexism/racism--for the most part)

I honestly have no idea what day it airs. If you, um, need it, let me know, though.

GOOD. I just. HE IS SO ANNOYING. And, well, evil. I think he's actually more evil than the Morrigan, 'cause at least she's HONEST about what she is. He just lies and squirms and does things like threaten to murder Kenzi. srsly. YOU DO NOT DO THAT.

[identity profile] wishfulaces.livejournal.com 2011-11-08 04:24 am (UTC)(link)
Found it! No thanks to the USA website, which is being pretty dickish. Not that I have time to watch it anytime soon...

How anyone can be mean to Kenzi is just UNFATHOMABLE!

I still have to watch 2x07 as it took me several tries to dl.

Yeah, I think ALL the Fae muckety-mucks are pretty much evil by human standards. The Light are indeed just more pretentious about it. No wonder Hale prefers to keep his family ties on the DL.

I still often wonder why they went with those terms. Seelie and Unseelie aren't that complicated. But then, they get decent story mileage out of some of the Light Fae getting on their high horsies about morals and codes, and then having Kenzi and/or Bo call them on their shit. It becomes clearer all the time that the real divide lies in the level of interaction they have with the human world, more than in Light/Dark allegiance.
