1. [livejournal.com profile] pyramidofdreams - the Kara Thrace/Sam Anders ficathon goodness is being posted.

2. Saw The Avengers trailer. Waited for Black Widow to show up. Waited for her to have a line. Disappointed that her only role appears to be as Sex Object. (Every male character gets a line. She gets a showy, look how sexy I am montage.)

3. My mother wants me to bring S5 and 6 of Doctor Who down with me. While I'm gleeful at the prospect of introducing them to The Ponds, I am also terrified of, say, their reaction to Canton. (I might love my parents, but progressive they are not. At least in terms of orientations.)

I was sure I had more than that. hrm.

Did Hawkeye get a line? I keep forgetting he's in this movie.

Also, every time I see Black Widow posing in front of that explosion, I imagine her farting for some reason.

In a way, but when most the men get quips but the token female remains silent, the marginalization becomes glaringly obvious. If the genders were reversed, it would be equally irrelevant that a couple of women didn't get lines whilst glaring that the lone male character didn't. I'm sure any number of fanboys are arguing that it's perfectly acceptable since Hawkeye also didn't get a line and they're both lower tier characters. But then, those sort of fanboys tend to view women as props or background scenery so it's understandable that they don't notice gender differences.
