sff: DW Series 6 finale.


I DO NOT HAVE WORDS. IT WAS SO FABULOUS.

I want to flail and run around in circles and sit and cry and and--<3 <3 <3

SO MANY THINGs. Here are a few that I loved:

1. Amy killing Kovarian, letting her know that, y'know, River didn't get all the cold-bloodedness from her. And Amy being Generally Awesome in general, and ALSO HAVING AN OFFICE ON A TRAIN OMG SO MUCH LOVE.

2. ahem. Amy telling Captain Williams they should get married. And also saving his ass with a BFG. <3

3. The call to the Brig, who was dead and OMG TEARS.

4. River BROKE TIME FOR HIM. Awwww. LIKE MOTHER LIKE DAUGHTER, BITCHES.

5. WALLS OF SKULLS. Also, the skull pit. SO CREEPY.

6. Amy and River get together and drink wine and bond. It is now canon, holy fuck. (srsly, if someone had asked "what would you like?" I would have said AMY AND RIVER BONDING AND TEAMING UP TO RULE THE WORLD)

7. And Amy and River bonded and teamed up to RULE THE WORLD. SO MUCH LOVE. OMG.

8. i am being distracted by my re-watch.

9. ALL OF JACK'S STAG PARTIES.

I still may have a few issues with the arc of series 6 (namely the Ponds not getting to raise bb!Melody) but I pretty much flailed through that whole finale!

AMY + RORY being together even when they don't recognize each other! River getting her badassery from her MUM! Amy killing Kovarian! Eleventy WAVING to River from inside bot!Eleventy! River going to see Amy after their 'first' meeting and being all 'Oh, mum, you were so young then'! Rose + Jack mentions, Creepy Silence dudes, Weird eye-patches of death, The oddest/coolest/most ridiculous wedding EVER...WHAT'S NOT TO LOVE?!


6. Amy and River get together and drink wine and bond.

7. And Amy and River bonded and teamed up to RULE THE WORLD. SO MUCH LOVE. OMG.

But really, THIS THIS THIS is what made me LOVE the finale ♥

Yes! I have been a bit upset about the Ponds not being able to rant and rave, or raise their own baby. But I'm glad the last bit was acknowledged.

It was so awesome I don't even have the words.

Pond, Amy Pond and Captain Williams finding each other in every reality. And Doctor playing matchmaker to his in-laws.

Doctor and River lying and telling secrets. And their nights together.
As River said to Kovarian they are made for each other. But it was still cute he asked her parents to give their permissions before marrying her.

River and Amy hanging together. The way Amy knew freak meteor shower meant her daughter will drop by. They whole relationship might be totally screwed up timeline wise but they are still awesome. And Rory too. And they can RULE THE WORLD whenever they feel like it.

That's some family.

you know? This one kind of turned a usual female trope on its ear; Eleven and Rory get together and it's all about Eleven trying to hook up Amy and Rory. :) Yay for flipping the script?

IT WAS FANTABULOUS.

I love how it opens with everything just DELIGHTFULLY MESSED UP. AND THEY TALK ABOUT THE CHRISTMAS SPECIAL LOLOLOL AND THEN IT GOT EVEN MORE AWESOME.

(and really so glad I have only River fans on my list - I couldn't take any grumpy thoughts about RIver or Eleven/River today. DO NOT WANT.)

From a sci-fi/laws of physics/basic logic point of view, the whole thing was beyond absurd. But it was fun, everyone got to be a badass, and the ending was happy, so I'm well satisfied. Even if it so disorienting to watch that my brain was mush for Merlin. I give it a thumbs down and a million gold stars. Where's my aspirin?

The previous episode, a man blew up Cybermen with the power of love. I don't think this show has any sort of physics or logic and never really has.

I agree. The illogic of the time all happening at once bubble was just too much for me to handwave away after watching because it literally made no sense to the point of hurting me head. For what it's worth, illogical time physics stuff is a big pet peeve with Stargate, Star Trek, and other shows as well. But a million gold stars for the awesomeness of characters, anyway, and I'm so thrilled that all of the Ponds are still alive without getting dumped off somewhere all mindwiped that in another day or so my hatred of the physics will wear off and this will be a favorite episode. So no worries.
