Spoilers for Torchwood season four.
Dear Torchwood: Miracle Whip,
I'm breaking up with you. It's not me, it's you.
You no longer supply any sort of quality entertainment, which was the remit that I watched you for.
Instead, you've turned a rapist/murderer into a God figure, killed off a (hot and well-dressed, remember, WOMEN HAVE TO ALWAYS WEAR HEELS) smart and outspoken woman (stupid bitch shouldn't have opened her mouth, amirite?); and become something that isn't entertaining, just annoying.

Thank fuck I wasn't actually paying money to watch this pile of shit.
I was never going to want to mp3 this season for listening to at work, but for fuck's sake, it has really gotten awful.

It's certainly not a cookie-cutter story where our heroes are blessed.

WHY DID YOU NOT KILL THE CREEPY CHILD RAPIST?! OR STUPID REX OR THAT JACKASS WHO SHOT VERA?! Seriously, ANY of them would've been a better choice than the hot doctor who actually wanted to help people! And who seemed pretty darn smart if you overlook her choice in men. And who had femslashy subtext with EVERYONE. *sniffles* I miss you already, Vera.
But this episode (and most of the ones before it, tbh) just proved that they should've ended the series with Children of Earth because I see no point to any of this.

I was on the fence before.
But, yeah. It's pretty much dead and buried, to me.

One thing I really loved about Children of Earth was how it showed Jack in a new light. It showed us that Jack is not a hero but is actually kind of awful. Yet, there are times when he's necessary. It basically reinforced my opinion of Jack but this series seems to have forgotten all about that and gone back to the 'Jack knows more than everyone and is the only one who can save us' mentality.
ITA with you about the last episodes. I think the highlight of episode 4 was when Gwen pointed out how RIDICULOUS those heels were for actual world-saving :) And episode 3...The Jilly/Vera + Gwen/Esther scenes were awesome but the rest of the episode was just boring.

The funny thing is, Jack has always given the impression that he knows more, but I'm not sure that's really all that true. Sometimes, yeah. Other times? I think he's just in the dark and really bad at being a leader.

Well, not really. People wouldn't be upset about it.

Oh, wait.
That's right. Ianto's death scene was a heart-felt, sad and melancholy moment which was actually respectful to him as a person. It didn't show us the aliens angsting, or try to make us feel SORRY for the person who destroyed him in cold blood, or want to give him a pass, as OMG, LOOK HOW FAR WE WILL FALL if PUSHED.
So, no. Not the same. And it rarely EVER is when a man dies on screen.

I've been underwhelmed by the three episodes I've seen. Bah. I wanted it to be good. I wanted to not be able to rip myself away from the screen.

YES. Exactly. I really was giving it a chance, trying not to dislike it from the beginning (despite knowing that Bill Pullman's entire arc was going to make me a rage-filled asshole). But it's failed to be compelling, entertaining or good.
Sigh.
