Covert Affairs 2x8
Spoilers make Joan's eyebrows raise in derision.
omg.
If someone had asked me "What do you want most out of tv shows?" I would have said something like "women with significant relationships to each other kicking ass and saving each other while the men sit at home and worry" (or possibly without the men at all)
Covert Affairs just delivered that. On a fucking platter.
JOAN IN THE FIELD. GIVING ORDERS. And saving the ass of her BFF from The Farm. Annie kicking ass! Megan kicking ass! Ben... sort of just being there as the Gadget Guy (THAT WAS HILARIOUS), and then needing his ass saved.
Seriously, that was just bloody gorgeous and wonderful, and I love love LOVE that Arthur and Auggie are just stuck back at base, worrying (and knitting or whateveR). I love the reversal of the normal thing, where the women wait in worry and the men Do Things.
MORE OF THIS, SHOW. I love it. <3
In other scenes, I was a bit worried that Annie's sis was going to start an affair with Hot Doctor Guy (idek, does he have a name?). He's ridiculously adorable with children, and I hope he never gets serious about Annie, as, um, kids are not her thing.
Annie's sis, otoh, is becoming Suspicious again.
OH JAI NO. Seriously, dude, getting in bed with your dad and Liza Hearn? That's the way to destroy what you've been working for all these years.
And then there's Ben. I find it fascinating that the episode trailer was all "BEN IS BACK. THINGS WILL HAPPEN. DRAMATICALLY" and Ben... sort of really doesn't have a role in the story, outside of getting dumped by Annie and having cool toys.
OH ANNIE. You are so on the rebound.
In the meantime, Joan/Megan femslash set during their Training Years would be welcomed. Oh, hey. Porn battle is still taking prompts. *runs off*

And then. AND THEN!
JOAN! IN THE FIELD! AND ARTHUR CALLING HER THEIR BEST OPERATIVE! AND WRITING HER A NOTE AND MAKING DINNER IN CASE THE NOTE DIDN'T WORK. COULD I SHIP THESE TWO MORE? NO.
AND ANNIE! CHILLING WITH CUTE DOCTOR BOY (he doesn't need a name, he's there to make Annie happy and smiley) AND NOT EVEN DEALING WITH BEN'S BULLSHIT AND JUST TOTALLY NOT CARING AND WALKING AWAY. LIKE, IT WASN'T EVEN THAT SHE DUMPED HIM, BECAUSE THAT WOULD IMPLY THAT SHE CARED ENOUGH TO GIVE HIM SOME KIND OF IT'S OVER SPEECH BUT INSTEAD SHE WAS JUST LIKE 'I'M GOING TO GO DRINK WINE WITH MY NEW BFF JOAN SO YOU CAN HAVE FUN PLAYING WITH YOURSELF ON YOUR OWN LITTLE VACAY OR WHATEVER I HAVE MORE IMPORTANT THINGS TO DO'

BUT. BUT. THAT WAS NOT THE EPISODE THEY GAVE US. Which is sad, as if I'd known, I would have watched earlier.
I'd forgotten dinner. And that he thinks Joan is their best operative. <3

Basically, this episode is EVERYTHING I wanted and MORE! JOAN IN THE FIELD KICKING ASS!!! But then, they gave her a bff/special friend and made the femslash so ridiculously non-subtle, even my cousin was all 'yeah, they totally slept together at The Farm'!!! They gave me Annie being awesome and ditching stupid Ben! And then, THEY GAVE ME LIZA!!! I just...MORE OF THIS, SHOW! Seriously, if you were like this every week, it'd be nothing but hearts in my eyes forever ♥

Unexpected!Liza was fabulous, though too short a bit of her. Dammit, show, I don't care about Jai's daddy!

And dinner! Dinner with Arthur! Arthur was adorable! Yay!

THIS, exactly. She's so ridiculously good at what she does. =D
Arthur was... ok, see, Arthur was incredible, and I sort of love that the show went there with the "she's an operative, he's being over-protective of her and that is NOT OK" even though Joan was all right with it.

Oh yes! The promo was like Annie/Ben DRAMA & there was like none of that.
However, I loved the episode overall because it was all about the ladies kicking ass & taking names while the men either weren't there or were only there to provide the toys for the ladies.
I am holding out hope for Jai that he turns around reports back to Arthur & Joan what he learns from Daddy Dearest (who's always a weasel - no matter what show he's on... :-p)
Annie's rebound is Dr. Mike and I was also worried about him & Annie's sister having an affair, since her kids have latched onto him like he's their new bestest friend. However, I don't see him as being one to break up a marriage.

Dr. Mike strikes me as a really nice guy, so I can't seem him doing it, either. BUT. The show-writers are another matter entirely.
I sort of wonder if his reaction to Annie's Busy Life will lead Annie's sister to figuring out that Annie is not a museum worker.
