Vague thoughts on Torchwood 4x2 and 4x3.

1. Episode three was apparently where it was supposed to 'pick up' and get 'intense'? Um. Because episode three, while it had its moments, was really slow and shit-tastic. I literally called everything that happened while watching the trailer last week. Not in the correct order, and I imagined there'd be more excitement, but essentially, everything that happened was incredibly predictable.

2. Right down to the shoe-horned in sex scenes. Did they have some quota to meet? It was like, how, y'know, people say that long plotty fic doesn't need sex scenes 'cause they don't contribute to the plot. Normally, I disagree, but holy fuck were those a waste of screen time.

3. I still cannot stand Rex, and have no interest in him at all. How Gwen refrains from shooting him, I don't know.

4. Same goes for Bill Pullman. In fact, both of them drag down every scene they're in.

5. Jilly Kitzinger continues to be amazing, as does Dr. Vera. (though I note that the second time she was involved in a committee meeting, she wasn't allowed to get a word in edgewise--I guess since she wasn't saving Jack's life, it didn't matter)

6. Esther is adorable, and it's perhaps why I'd like Rex to go away.

7. However, Esther's choice of shoes is horrific. Also? She and Gwen have a conversation wherein Gwen should have pointed out their impracticality. (for fuck's sake, four-inch stiletto heels while on the run? wtf?) If Gwen could use Jack's money to buy clothing, she and Esther can duck into a shoe store for something more practical.

8. Episode two was hysterically entertaining, and I actually watched it twice.

9. I sort of ship Esther/Vera/Jilly but in various pairings and ways. And Gwen along with them. A bit.

I so agree.... ep 3 bored me and the whole "let's have sex because we're immortal" stuff? Ee gads, totally non-plot contribution.

The only person who's really kicking ass and keeping things moving is Gwen.

Jilly Kitzinger - man, who could forget her as Claire Fisher from Six Feet Under? I thought it was rather ironic that she was the one pimping PhiCorp (*cough*Pfizer*cough*) the company behind Miracle Day when she's best known as the misfit daughter of the undertaker family? :)

Yes, I thought the sex scenes were thrown in there just to say "oh, look, we're sexy and edgy".

I'm getting sick of Bill Pullman's role in the story. He grabs too much attention away from the Torchwood team.

My favourite scene for the episode would have to be Esther and Gwen walking down the street chatting about poetry.

I'm continuing to love Gwen and I've fallen in love with Vera. And yes, there was a lot of head-tilting and WTFing on my part as I watched this ep, but I'm still overall enjoying it. Hopefully, next ep will be better.
