wtf.

I have been cleaning, and I'd just come back in from beating the shit out of the rug (an intensely therapeutic activity, might I add) and discovered one of the candle holders had exploded.

OK, well, technically, it just broke straight down the middle and spilled wax all over everything. BUT. EXPLODED.

Now I need to find the connector for my camera so I can show off this ridiculousness.

(for reference, it was one of these)

eta: incidentally, anyone know a good way of getting candle wax off of wood flooring that doesn't include patiently scraping with my fingernails?

I don't actually think we have vinegar, but thank you (though I've no idea how the floor is finished)

Try using a hairdryer to warm it back up and scrape it up with a spatula?

I used the iron, but either way, if I had a spatula, I'd've used it.

Either chill the wax, or melt it. It's easier to get off in either of those states than it is to scrape it up at room temperature. Like the reply above, my default is vinegar, but Murphy's Oil soap might be a safer option depending on your finish.

The spatula is an excellent suggestion. I'd lay icepacks over the wax until it's as hard as possible, scrape it up with a plastic or rubber spatula, and then clean the floor with Murphy's.

I chilled the stuff on the blu-ray boxes, so thank you. =D

Throw a towel you don't care about over the wax. Iron over top of that. The wax should melt and adhere to the towel.

I've used this method to get wax out of jeans before. It works on just about anything.

Places several layers of absorbent paper(for the floor news paper will do) and with a warm iron gently iron these sheets. It will take a while for the heat to penetrate and may be several changes of paper but it won, scratch the floor.

Thank you, it worked wonderfully. =D

It works wonderfully on cloth to but don't use newsprint, toilet paper or kitchen roll(as long as it doesn't have coloured designs on it) is what I would use.

I used an old sock, then paper towels folded a lot once the sock was useless.
