random tvs: Tuesday's NCIS, and I attempt to watch Life

1. It is awesome that Beth Riesgraf is getting work outside of Leverage. What a pity the show is so boring, predictable and sexist. UGH. It was so boring a 40 minutes episode was fast-forwarded down to 20. srsly, they waste the awesome of Riesgraf on McGee Gets a Girlfriend? UGH.

2. I made it 20 minutes into the first episode of Life before giving up. I would punch Crews in the face if I ever met him, he is so ANNOYING. Then again, the reason I never watched it was the whole setup of "YET ANOTHER ANGSTY WHITE MAN HAS ~ISSUES~ and there is some uptight chick who has to put up with him because he's so ~brilliant~" *UGH UGH UGH*

Now, I'm re-watching the Red Cap pilot episode. Jo McDonagh = CURE FOR EVERYTHING. Possibly, I need some Ros Myers after this.

2. You basically nailed my reason for never watching that show despite my huge fangirl crush on Sarah.

2. I think the second season of Life was way better than the first. Charlie was pretty much re-acclimated to the 'outside' though he still had his fruit thing. Dani had mellowed out some, but she was still the 'straight man' so to speak. Charlie and Dani had much more trust in each other and seemed like real partners who had finally gelled. Also, the precinct captain was replaced by Donal Logue, who a little more levity and took out a lot of the oppressive angst. Overall, I found season 2 to have a much more team-y feel with Charlie, Dani, Charlie's former partner, Captain Tidwell, and sometimes Ted all working together, rather than all about Charlie's issues though they are still in the background.

I never rewatch the 1st season, but I do rewatch the second every couple of months. I found it refreshing as a slightly out of the box procedural and I like pretty much everyone in the cast. I can hardly stand to watch procedurals anymore. I need more character development in my shows now.

Huh, I actually found season one to have a vibe that I preferred between Dani and Charlie. They weren't pushing Dani into a romance (and to be honest, it really bothered me who she got involved with), and not subtly implying that Charlie was interested in a romance with Dani as well. I liked that both Dani and Charlie were prickly in different ways: Charlie with his very deliberate mannerisms and Dani with her distance and distrust.

I'm afraid my extreme dislike of the main character is going to make it unlikely I'll watch it again.

2. Obviously tolerance levels differ, but I really liked season one of Life in part because it was clear fairly early that Dani wasn't just a long-suffering genius wrangler. (And yeah, it's outside my usual pattern to have my favorite character be the man. Don't know why it worked that way for me, but it did.)

Season two, on the other hand... for me there was too much of Dani being made into The Girl rather than the no-nonsense professional she was in season one.

Sometimes, yes. It's hard to get away from the fact that one of the male leads is constantly ogling women/making sexist remarks/being horrible, and he's the character fandom loves a lot? And while he gets called on it on the show, sometimes, it's not... enough? idk. It got to the point where I couldn't stand it anymore. So.

Also, though it's had a lot of awesome occasionally recurring female characters, it's also killed all of them off.
