history: being distracting and femslashy.

1. This whole returning to work thing after a three-day weekend suuuuuucks.

2. Today's adventures in Wikipedia involved Virginia Woolf. I have come to the conclusion that Wikipedia is an horrific influence. You guys. Woolf gender-swapped her girlfriend and wrote a novel about her. Complete, iirc, with boyslash. She's like the grandmama of boyslash genderswap kinks.

3. Why is there no Virginia Woolf RPFS? No, really, WHY? Is it because she's a bi-sexual married to an athiest Jew and writes novels and thus does not exist? eta: to be fair, I haven't gone on any sort of extensive search, but I don't recall ever seeing it cross the femslash_today lists. Hrm.

4. So, the problem then becomes: How many times did River Song visit Virginia, and were they lovers? Obviously, yes, but then, why did River keep returning? For the same reason Vita S-W (whom Virginia carried on a 20-year affair with) did? Obviously, Virginia is a woman who attracts people, fascinating them in some measure.

5. Speaking of Vita, the woman is a marvel in her own way, including cross-dressing as a man to hang out with her girlfriend in Italy. Apparently, she used to run off and take her kids along for the affair.

6. I know, Wikipedia isn't the highest measure of factual evidence.

7. I should actually be writing Sparky fic, whoops.
