Coyote Ugly

So, I watched Coyote Ugly last night. It probably would have been only mildly entertaining except for the fact that I'd watched an episode of Beverly Hills Bordello on Showtime the night before...

Can we say the similarities mount as the movie goes on?

One. Lil and the Madame are both hard-assed blondes.

Two. The newest blonde recruit has a boyfriend.

Three. Who doesn't like what she does.

Four. So they break up.

Five. And then get back together at the end, how sweet!

Six. And the women dance for men/sleep with men for cash.

Seven. And it's supposed to be empowering.

*sarcasm* Yep.

I think, on the whole, I prefer the Bordello. At least there I don't get the sappy predictable little girl in a big town storyline. Ugh.

Oh! Oh! But she's a musician/songwriter!

Yes. And?

It was so by the numbers, I could count off when she was going to get over her stagefright, when she was going to get blindsided, when her apartment would be burgled...

What's really sad is that a tiny rundown place like she had would have still been upwards of 1200 a month. I'm guessing her dad won the lottery or something, too. Computers aren't that cheap.

I wouldn't recommend it, not unless you're feeling really bored. Even then, you might want to watch something else.
