YOU GUYS. I am watching The Time Meddler, and Vicki is awesome and is spending most of her time training the stupid out of Steven. IT IS LIKE HAVING A NEW PUPPY, and she is grateful to One for not just spacing him (though One is mellow, now, which feels odd).
Also, One had UST with the wife of the village leader.
And there are random shirtless Vikings.

eta: and there is the one bit where Vicki was giving Steven approval. She was like "I am so proud of you for being clever."
And the wife of the head dude is now stalking Vikings with a spear. <3
eta2: and then there is the bit where Steven says "Follow me" at the same time as Vicki, and she promptly starts off, and he gives up and realizes he has to follow her. For Vicki pwns Steven, and he knows it.
eta3: "What are you doing?"while I sit here and whine
*eyeroll* "Looking for a secret passage." Boys have no imagination, apparently.

Unlike certain other Doctor Who purchases.I love Vicki and the way they mock Steven for refusing to believe in time travel. Space cow!
And I apparently don't have a Vicki icon.

and the awful fight scenes.Hheheheh. I expect Steven learns, after a while.

In the mid 80s WTTW in Chicago first aired the package that included all extant full stories, a serial a week in "feature format" in chronological order. The transition between The Chase and the next serial The Time Meddler is very remarkable to me* in terms of progression in the feel of the show from what it started out being to what it eventually became. And there was another quantum leap in that feel between the last full Hartnell story they had (The War Machines) and the first full Troughton story they had (in those days, The Dominators)**. The first few years were a lot more experimental and broader in attempted scope, and it's with the departures of William Russell and later of William Hartnell that the transition to pure science fantasy adventure really shows.
* Hence these remarks. I comment on this at any opportunity.
** Note, for whatever it's worth, that the progression from The Chase to The Time Meddler is from one serial to the next consecutive serial, whereas the progression from The War Machines to any Troughton serial extant in the 80s or now skips at least a season.
