remember, you promised me

1. hurrah! New Torchwood!

2. Listening to Blake's 7 at work is like... It is something fabulous and spectacular, even if the show is a bit fail (I managed to make it through Moloch, but Harvest of Kairos was a no-go, and when I was wee, I knew both of those were SUCKY SUCKY SUCKY).

3. I can't decide if it's in the delivery, or if it's the words themselves that give B7 such snappy dialog.
"We've talked about it and discovered we care what happens to you."
"We're as surprised about it as you are."
"Not to mention, embarrassed."

(which, ok, that three lines totally encapsulates season three, and is Dayna, Cally and Vila ribbing Avon, which is hilarious all on its own)

4. In non-Blake's 7 news, I should get round to writing up my thoughts on the Fringe season finale. I think there was another finale in there I should write about, too (I know Castle is covered). And possibly, some bits on newskool and Daria.

5. Also, every so often, I remember that SERVALAN KILLED AN ENTIRE PLANET SO SHE COULD MAKE CLONE BABIES OF HERSELF. And then I'm like, TOP THAT, SCORPY. With some sticking my tongue out and stuff. (also: "But I fear scrupulous fairness is one of my small, personal obsessions." SERIOUSLY?)

6. Leverage is new in, like, thirteen days. I AM SO STOKED. I may have mainlined season two over the weekend.

1. I'm a little hesistant but mostly excited. Ultimately, if there's another chance for Gwen badassery, I'm going to watch (even if it means putting up with Harkness) :)

4. Same re: the Fringe finale

6. YAY!

1. I assume the worst, but enjoy it nonetheless, when it comes to Torchwood. It hits a certain kink-brain-thing that just makes me gleeeeeeeeee even when it's annoying and/or faily.

I get that. I've actually enjoyed the series from the beginning. It's only Jack I've come to have problems with and those problems probably aren't enough to keep me from watching, especially when Eve Myles is involved.

I have episodes now. I'm sort of tempted to put some of them up, with big, massive warnings that the show frequently has NO IDEA what to do with its female characters and thus sits them on the sidelines.

(seasons one and two were pretty awful for this, and there's at least one horrible episode where you sort of want to punch the writer. Season three was a lot better, but manage two pretty awful episodes...)

Which is frustrating, as the show is decent at creating good female characters, but they exist in a vacuum, or simply do very little (or, in Cally's case, get possessed a lot).

Also, the show tends to kill people. A lot.

yaaaaaaaaaaaay! I keep eyeing the prompts at the kink meme and the porn battle and flailing.

I have no time to scroll through them! I wish. So I started something on my own instead.

Trufax.

I wasn't even planning to, and then I couldn't resist, and OMG I MISSED IT SO. sigh.

The news about Torchwood (more or less) pleases me. I plan to keep my expectations low so that I'm not disappointed, but either way, I'm pretty sure to be entertained. And I'm keeping my fingers crossed that we get a Lois Habibba. :)

Yay, Leverage!!!! \o/

YES, low. =D Even though I'm sure it will still own my brains. And if there is Lois, there will be squeaking and happiness (I don't know if the actress is free, sadly)

small lights in the wild black yonder

It's the interaction of the plainest possible words with the understated delivery, I think. And maybe more than that, the background: these few small human amenities they can manage - sometimes - for each other, and the reality of their situation, which is beyond dire on a grand scale. Each moment of warmth is set off against that backdrop.

Hm. Yes. Yes, it's that, too. It's all of it together, plus the utter, nostalgic love (plus the fact I think the dialog IS well-written. It keeps me entertained at work).
