Two more things about newskool Who

...that occurred to me.

The first is something general: I seem to recall people talking about hating what UNIT has become, and I'm still not entirely sure what they mean. Earth First was always their priority, or does no one remember causing the genocide of the Silurians and shooting first, asking questions later. UNIT were never hippie-dippy peaceniks playing with alien technology.

The second is spoilery for Journey's End/etc. (er, and some Stargate)

The Daleks' Matter destroyer ray thingie, it, um, it destroys the electrical bond between molecules, right? So, um...

It's just a big, slightly less discriminatory version of the weapon SG-1 uses to dissolve Replicators, then.

*giggles like a small child* I guess we should be glad Jack made no mistakes when SMRT, because they could have been Dark Phoenixing it up whenever they fired the Replicator weapon.

No outfit Alistair was in charge of would have locked Tosh up in twenty-four square feet with no trial, window or toilet. I'm just sayin'.

The UNIT thing with Toshiko was pretty awful, but then, we didn't have Torchwood back then. Apart from that, I can't really see much difference in Old UNIT and New Unit apart from the occasional stupid writing by RTD (blowing the Earth to pieces?). Maybe it's because the Tenth Doctor was all mournful about "what Martha has become". The Third Doctor would have been delighted!

Heya! I heard in the #subcafe that you might be a good person to ask (beg) for a beta for a Doctor Who crossover, as I popped in for chat tonight. I friended - if that bugs you just let me know.

Be well!

Sure - fandomwhore at gmail dot com, though I won't be able to poke at it until I get off work.
