Man, to have Miss Marple's brains...

I've been watching the McEwan Marple episodes, and the one thing that continually stands out is that every man flirts outrageously with Miss M., to the point where I suspect some of them are frightfully sad she's forty+ years too old for them.

eta: also, top-loading an episode with Keeley Hawes, Zoe Wannamaker, Clare Skinner, Catherine Tate, and Sienna Guillory is certainly more of a sledgehammer than one with Tim McInerny and Rachael Stirling.

They really do, don't they? I cringe at a lot of the rewriting, and writing in general, but a major saving grace is that the writers clearly think Miss Marple is the most awesome thing ever, and write her and the characters around her accordingly.

I'm terribly shallow, so the writing actually amuses me a lot?

But, yes, the characters around her all think she is awesome, though there is sometimes a bit of difficulty, but then they all fall into line for her.

I may have that one, I don't know. But they do appear to do that, yes. Which is awesome. Also, every actor to be in Primeval, ever.

Well, you can see their point. Miss Marple isn't just brilliant, practical, incisive and decent, she's also fricking adorable. She works the sweet little old lady thing as it has never been worked before!

I am sad that I have not seen these Marple episodes, I mostly only know her from the books, although I did love the Joan Hickson portrayal.

She is and she does, and McEwan does a really nice job. I've seen some of the Hickson ones, but a lot of these were re-written. I suppose it's for more 'modern' audiences, but I'm shallow enough to enjoy them, especially when Miss Marple is all "I win" at things.

I love and adore Geraldine McEwan. I got introduced to her when Iowa public television showed Mulberry way back when. She has to be my favorite actress to play Miss Marple. (Sorry, Angela Lansbury.)

My first meeting with her was Cassandra, season eight of Red Dwarf. =D And I'm utterly adoring her.

That is the Red Dwarf episode I have an uncanny knack for catching. I think I've seen it the most out of the handful of episodes I've managed to see.

The McEwan Marples are some of my favorite shows ever, mostly because every single British actor shows up at one point, and you know how I love it when fandoms collide :)

YES. Yes, that. Although the filming really makes me happy, but I'm sort of shallow about things like that.
