If you're not a Kara/Lee or Kara/Sam shipper, most of this will bore you (unless you want to point and laugh). It's also possible it will still bore you. (this is not, however, a review of The Plan)
1. I figured out the subconscious reason for wanting to write Kara/Lee. Please don't be offended, but I was pitying Kara/Lee shippers. And sleepy. Which translated into: "write them something nice to make them feel better." (the reactions and my inability to withstand challenge made porn. Yes, it will be posted to the porn battle. Yes, I still sort of pity Kara/Lee shippers, I'm trying not to.)
2. Kara/Sam shippers did not collectively come up with a plan to be obnoxious. We all, independently, GIGGLED LIKE SMALL CHILDREN and then posted our thoughts. Some of us might have read earlier thoughts and agreed/re-posted similar ideas, but there was no sekrit meeting to keep the Kara/Lee shippers down with our squeefulness.
3. We were also squeaking over our Cylons. And Sixes. YOU CAN NEVER HAVE TOO MANY SIXES.
4. That said, I now have an amused and sadistic glee in (thinking of) making sparkle-text and giggling like small children. BUT WE DID NOT SET OUT TO HAVE OUR DOGS EAT YOUR HOMEWORK.
5. And let's be honest, the numbers are really not on our side. Kara/Sam shippers are also still in the minority in BSG fandom. Until recently, I could count the number of people writing K/S on one hand. We're now up to about 13. And at least half of us? Have written Kara/Lee, as well. I think the ratio is now better than it was, but I'm pretty sure for every Kara/Sam fan there's at least ten Kara/Lee fans.
6. There are also Kara/Sam shippers that ship Kara/Lee, and vice versa. Kinda shocking, I know. Also? Some of them also ship Kara/Leoben. So, this whole "if you ship K/S you're an idiot/delusional/just plain wrong" thing is a bit... silly.
7. Really silly, in fact. This is not a "can't we all just get along" comment, more of a "it's a tv show and they are fake, can we remember this is not war?" Mostly because not everyone can get along, but sheesh, people, have some fucking manners and at least be polite.
8. I'm sorry, but no. Character-bashing is not polite.
9. On the other side of things, the answer to, "But, Lyssie, if the shoe had been on the other foot and The Plan was all about Kara and Lee's Pure and True Love, wouldn't you be the one being a bitch?" is:
I don't know. Pure and True Love was hyperbole, btw
If the show had ended the way it did, but The Plan wasn't about Sam and was about Kara pining for Lee? Yeah. I'd find it bad writing and a bit gratuitous. Sort of like I found all the random and misplaced Kara and Lee scenes in season four. (I also found those sad in that they were obviously there to keep the Kara/Lee shippers from walking away by dangling carrots)
Of course, I'm still bitter about SAM GETTING SHOT IN THE HEAD AND TURNED INTO A VEGETABLE, AND HE AND KARA NEVER HAVING ANOTHER CONVERSATION WHEN THEY WERE IN THEIR RIGHT MINDS AGAIN.
10. otoh, it would be really hard to be disappointed in something with sparkly cylons. And Sixes. And Simon getting an actual story-line. (though I suspect they went "fans keep accusing us of not having enough non-white people, do we have any of those left?" and then chose him to bulk up, story-wise)--but that's not what I was saying, really.
I have never had the moral high ground on this, and I know it. I do think I've got more of it, though. Mine is painted pink with purple sparkles.
11. BTW. I TAKE IT BACK. Buy The Plan on DVD, people, because I want the off-chance that we might get HERA'S CRACKTASTIC ADVENTURES ON EARTH WITH SOME CYLONS. And angels.

2. You see this is the problem I have with "Fandom Nation" they feel like they were entitled to get the story they wanted and that pisses me off severely. There were no promises this is RDM he likes to screw with our heads.

That and I have been revisiting DS9 recently and I have decided In the Pale Moonlight and WYLB makes up for the BSG finale. However the credit for those episodes have been expended and if RDM screws up on Caprica he may be in trouble with me.
