Yeah, it was so wrong to inconvenience *their* lives. I could have spent today editing fic, but, no, everyone was going to celebrate MY birthday. Right.

I just think your family doesn't grasp/understand/realize that you are not wired for the same idea of fun as they are, nor do they realize that you expected to have your birthday treated like your day.

I don't know why they don't, but I'm sorry they don't, and I'm sorrier still you were hurt and upset. Birthdays are hard enough to cope with without having to deal with emotional stress on top of the knowledge that you've aged another year.

I love you. I am sorry I didn't get to see more of you at Dragon*Con. You looked radiant.

It's not at all selfish. If they go out for your birthday, it's not unusual to expect it to be spent doing things you want. I'll never forget my family taking me out to a movie "for my birthday" and I ended up alone in a theater because they all wanted to see a movie I absolutely did not want to see! Don't worry, you've still got us. *hugs* There's going to be birthday-ness going on at DreaCon, so you can celebrate then. :)
