in plain sight, 'season finale' (hahahah)

spoilers

Wow. Um. That over-wrought Marshall stuff was fucking hilarious. I think only Twin Peaks could top the over-the-top histrionics. And even they wouldn't try to play it as 'normal'.

AND THEN. AND THEN. The fanvid with the Snow Patrol song!

*sniggers so hard*

On the "I'm vaguely impressed" side, I did sort of enjoy the bits of racial tension, because it did sort of play out as "nobody's right".

Other than that, this was one of the more under-whelming episodes, once Mary got shot. Everything leading up to it was interesting, but afterwards? Not so much.

Oh! Stan. Stan and Bobby. They were awesome.

The 'cliffhanger' annoys me, mostly because that wasn't supposed to be the finale but the network decided to make it so, which is just dumb. When you fire the show runner because he wants to make the show too dark for your tastes you lose the right to try to convince me you have the balls to do any permanent damage to any of the main characters.

Marshal's initial reaction was giggle inducing, but I thought the rest of the acting was good for the last half. Stan laying the smack down on Douche From Ferris Bueller was great, as was the moment at the beginning with the eavesdropping.

I just read an article about the changes which said absolutely nothing. Sigh.

They changed the showrunner? Oh dear.

The finale was woefully underwhelming, and I found the whole scenario kind of ridiculous. Especially once Mary got shot.

Yeah.

There are things I don't really like about the show as is, BUT, they are minor. And I'm worried that they'll just magnify it and make it really pointless and soap opera (which is most of the bits I disliked)--which, seriously, was what the cliffhanger was. A soap.

I was joking with my roommate that they'll have the entire next season be Mary in a coma.

Hahah. I'm glad I'm not the only one who sort of cringed at the Marshall break down. And, God, I am such a sap for the fanvid inserts. Lol. I'm a montage whore, what can I say.

But, yes, I agree with the race-tensions. It's rare to find that ever dealt with any sort of subtlety, nuance, or open ended answers like that these days.

It depends on the person. Like, Gwen Cooper breaking down like that? Totally believable. Marshall? Raph? Stan? No. Jinx? Maybe. Brandi? Maybe. Jack Harkness? Yes.

I don't even know if it was a good inspection of that sort of tension, but it did feel like they were trying. And it was definitely NOT a black and white situation, there were so many variables involved. Sigh.
