Viewing past pairings in a whole new light.
The worst thing about not shipping the popular pairing is looking at the demonization of the Other Man, and then going back to ancient fic and feeling horribly embarrassed.
Which is to say, I keep looking at unfinished Sam/Jack fic and wincing. I even like Pete, and it's blush-inducing how ridiculously I've treated him. Killed him off more than once. Made him an asshole, so they break up. True, I never made him a rapist or an abusive boyfriend, but jeeze.
Hell, I even recall buying that whole line of thinking where Pete would 'fix' Sam so she could Love Jack.
*facepalm*
