You were wild, where are you now?

So. On the way home from work, I proved I'm my father's daughter. I grabbed a half-shelf from the trash. It's that type you see at Wal-Mart, with the two shelves, and stands about 3 feet high. Missing the middle shelf, but otherwise in great shape. I can always use more shelfy type things.

Dad would be proud. There were wooden slats and crap like packing crates. The scrounger in me wishes to go back. I am fighting it most dilligently. Besides, it could still all be there tomorrow before work.

And wood for shelves is always useful.

I should clean my room, though. It's actually somewhat organised, more just a matter of picking everything up and finding a spot for it. And, considering all the new books I got the week before last, I'll have to expand the bookshelves... Oh, to be able to just dump ALL the books on the shelves in alphabetical order....

Mmm. Floor-to-ceiling shelving...

Happy Birthday!

There is nothing wrong with rummaging through the trash and taking what you find in there. When I was 14, the elementary school across the street threw out an old phonograph, I got that, it worked for about another year, though it skipped on occasion.

"Double D" is our new nickname for a friend of ours and it stands for 'Dumpster Diver' - out back of our regular bar where we all tend to stand around for awhile after bar close, someone lifted the cover of the dumpster to throw something away and saw that the dumpster was filled with fabric. Mariann makes her own clothes and sews everything and anything and wanted it and talked Mario into diving in - they filled the trunk of the car with fabric - we still have no clue why it was there. He didn't earn the nickname until the next week someone accidentally dropped something in the dumpster and he was willing to retrieve it.

You have some strange friends there Shel :)

Ah, back in the day. . .

Between college years, and even quarters, there would be the BEST stuff at college apartment complex dumpsters. At the end of the year you find all kinds of stuff that graduating people scorn, deeming it too cool for their new post-collegiate plans. It was WONDERFUL. I remember a particularly cool shelf myself. . .

Ah, for those days. . . Good for you, Lyssie!

Ah, when I have my dream house, one of the biggest rooms will be turned into the library, WITH floor-to-ceiling shelving on each wall. And a comfortable chair to read in. Probably won't have the large stone fireplace, though.
