...there are crazy people in Milwaukee

I thought it was kind of weird when chairs were appearing on Friday for the parade.

But tonight?

Tonight, there are people camping in downtown Milwaukee to ensure they have good seats. For a parade.

There is a MAN SLEEPING ON HIS OWN COUCH AND WATCHING HIS TV.

So he can see. A. Parade.

wtf. wtffff.

What kind of parade? Will there be famous people at this parade? Otherwise, I'm not seeing the drawing point.

...are American parades really that awesome? I keep thinking of the parade in Drop Dead Gorgeous with the giant swan, now.

Must be one heck of a parade.

If it's not Trucco marching sans pants I cant possibly see what could make people camp out like that.

What the hell is the parade for anyway?

I always thought the people who set up chairs early in the morning for the 4th of July parade in Seward were nuts (the parades not even good anymore, lots of Chez queens and semi trucks). Camping out over night? If fucking insane.

Well I suppose if people see the sense in camping out a week before something opens to get tickets, or goes on sale.. this makes sense too. I could see coming down early that day or sending a chosen two to reserve a spot for several people (family group or freinds) but.. before? Um.. no.

I was at that parade once. I don't remember how much earlier than the rest of the family my uncle and cousin got there, but I bet it wasn't overnight. 'Course that was twenty five years ago.

Eh, people did and still do that all the time for the parades during Fiesta in San Antonio. Something about having "just the right spot."

Heck, I knew of families (Grandparents down to grandkids) that had the same spots for YEARS because members would set up and guard the area over night. We did the same thing, only we bought our seats in the grandstand area and had pretty much the same seats for 15 years.

Hahaha. Unsurprised actually. My grandparents camped out overnight for years. I've done it once or twice myself. As for the parade itself, see above comment. My grandma loves parades. Hell, I have pictures of all the grandkids, including myself, dressed up as clowns and sitting on the curb. It was always a lot of fun.

I thought about going this year... but my grandma wasn't, and frankly, I don't think it would be the same without my grandfather.
