Which is, I think, part of the problem (not you, specifically, btw). A lot of people who like female characters watch it, but most of them don't write about it.

Lost has time travel now, doesn't that make it scifi by default? Not that I care. Alias has some supersciencey gadgets, but I agree that's not really enough. I haven't watched either show, but both sound very random.

Well, at least they have Pris, Sarah Connor, Sarah Jane, Ellen Ripley, Sam Carter, Buffy, Starbuck, Number Six, et al. While I love Rose, I wouldn't say she shook scifi, so I'm surprised she's so far up the list.
