lyssie: (Cadman is more awesome than you. Deal.)

Quick.

Saw Star Trek. There were pretty pretty space ships, very Shadow and Zelbinion-like. (spaceships are what turns me on, yes)

SO MUCH AWESOME. I CANNOT ARTICULATE.

Like. I want to. I want to A LOT. And I can't. There was just... *flails*

ok.

Uhura. AWESOME PERSONIFIED. I wasn't sure what I'd think of her, but she was quietly calm, collected, kickass and awesome. And she was pretty much the stable one in the Uhura/Spock relationship.

Starfleet. I'm sort of digging this shift back to them being peaceful, but with teeth--ALTHOUGH I THOUGHT I'D LAUGH MY ASS OFF when they were talking about Starfleet being a 'peacekeeping' force. PEACEKEEPERS. AHAHAH. Shush.

SHINY SPACESHIPS. Seriously, Nero's ship was gorgeous and beautiful and really well articulated, and I could have stared at it for HOURS. It was like a Shadow ship got a Vorlon ship pregnant and they HAD A BABY THAT GOT KIDNAPED AT BIRTH.

Oh, the Enterprise was pretty, too.

All of the boys. Spot-on, and I think they all gelled well together, which can be hard.

Badness:
Short skirts.
Not enough women.
KILLING SPOCK'S MOMMY.
The opening sequence was cheesy and sappy.

IN SHORT. PLEASE CAN WE HAVE MORE OF THESE?

Yes, apparently. (http://www.variety.com/article/VR1118001885.html?categoryid=13&cs=1)

Almost every time I find out there's gonna be a sequel to a movie I like, I react with dread and uncertainty. Not this time. YES, MORE PLEASE.

I kept thinking 'shadow' while watching, and it wasn't until I was back here, thinking of the shape that I realized it had pinged more Vorlon-shaped. Thus. HYBRID BABIES FOR THE WIN.

It was one of the lines Pike said, about Starfleet being a 'peacekeeping' force and it made me LOL.

She was awesome, but yes. Otoh, with that large a cast, it's hard to give any one person their own storyline, I suppose... What a pity they didn't genderswap a few of 'em. ;]

They'll genderswap in the next reenvision.

Yes! I know it probably couldn't have worked in this type of reset - but I do think that it would have been better to gender swap Chekov or Sulu.

And yes, Uhura kicked ass in this. I liked her strong professionalism. Perhaps next time she can go sky diving with Kirk & Spock.

I don't think I've ever commented on your LJ so..uh..hi.

ANYWAY! I had to comment on the ship because, yes, that was one badass looking ship. I did lol when Nero said that it used to be a mining ship because DAMN. That's one fucking creepy mining ship. Like, what did you mine for? Evil?

It's the mining ship Red Dwarf. Suddenly, it all makes sense. Those nanites did a good job restructuring it again. Pity about the singularity. ;]

(hi!)

[identity profile] seven-trees.livejournal.com 2009-05-18 05:52 pm (UTC)(link)
Heh. All I could think about was how that ship probably decreased the number of potential Romulan miners because they were all too freaked out by the Mining Ship o' Evil. Like, were there starry-eyed Romulans kids who grew up wanting to be miners and then the second they saw the ship were like, Oh HELL no. I'm gonna go and be a vet now, kthnxs.

I LOVED this movie and I really need to see it again so I can articulate just how awesome it was. Right now my brain is still going EEEEEEE! ;D

It was like a Shadow ship got a Vorlon ship pregnant and they HAD A BABY THAT GOT KIDNAPED AT BIRTH.
YES.

Kosh says you nailed it in one.

it's kinda scary when Spock's the emotional half of a couple. :)

and I second your request for more of these.
