Damn Trucco's quote in the TV Guide interview. Damn it to hell.

So. If Sam isn't the one with the monologue and it's Tigh, that means Tigh get shot and not Sam...

I don't know about that there's not much story there I mean how pathetic would that bedside vigil be? Three guys who only kinda sorta give a crap and a president who is pissed. Although they might have milked the drama by making Kara be threatened by Sam worrying about Tory but even that only has about five seconds of mileage.

Actually, it doesn't, though two people have now said that was the original plan.

It is, however, what occurred in my brain while I was folding and stuffing checks. And let me tell you, a couple hastily-scrawled sentences is no substitute for having my brain hooked up to the computer. Sigh.

The sad part is, much as I like what Trucco did with Anders before, he's totally right--Hogan's delivery would have been better. Also, if they'd brain-frakked Tigh, I would have been a weeping mess instead of wanting to throw things at the TV all the time as was.

Yeah, there was apparently a vague plan to shoot Tigh originally, IIRC from Verheiden's comments on Blood on the Scales, but it got nixed pretty quickly. Hell, there was apparently no plan to shoot ANYONE until he decided there had to be someone on Team Adama to suffer, and it all cascaded from there.... :(

well, I don't know if they had the info-dump plan originally - it may all have been on Ellen at one time, too. The way Verheiden made it sound, was he was assigned Blood and he said, "y'know, Team Adama should suffer a casualty from the mutiny, too. How about Tigh gets shot?" and the others said, "uh,no, we need Tigh for other stuff." "ok, how about Anders?" "... ok. So then I'll put him in a coma for mine, etc." But that's just the impression I had, and I don't know if that was as early as the story conference or when he'd actually started script. But of course, at the time of the comment, he couldn't have spoiled the hybrid thing, so he may have downplayed the story direction a lot.

Tigh actually was supposed to be the one shot originally and the script changed to Trucco after the accident. I do think Tigh getting shot may have been the more interesting story there but I wonder what that would have done to Deadlocked.

All I want to know is how they were going to handle Kara/Sam if they hadn't gone the coma-induced-by-bullet route with Sam.

Also, maybe, I have brief moments where I wonder if I would've traded in that Sam/Kara ending for actual Sam/Kara interaction in 4.5.
