That's so sweet. Really.

Spoilers for BSG season finale.

So. Apparently all of the Kara/Sam shippers now feel horrible about how the Kara/Lee shippers got shafted and are writing them fix-it fic.

That's. That's so sweet.

Really. Especially after all the bullshit they heaped on Dee and Sam.

It's ok! I'm not planning on writing them Kara/Lee fix-it fic.

I... *has no words*

All, just means me (http://prolix-allie.livejournal.com/69912.html?thread=906776#t906776), if that's any comfort. :(

And I would still have her go off with Sam at the end! I just would have her and Lee get a longer goodbye. And I am not actually writing this.

... Am I out of the family?

It's not just you. MerryK is, too, and the entire Kara/Sam thread on Skiffy is being very sympathetic.

[identity profile] raincitygirl.livejournal.com 2009-03-24 12:25 am (UTC)(link)
That's very heartening.

Shippers of good conscience can cross shippy lines to console each other when they have a common enemy: bad writing.

[identity profile] lyssie.livejournal.com 2009-03-24 12:30 am (UTC)(link)
Yes. Funny how no one is crossing that line to write Sam as not a hybrid fic or Dee alive fic.

[identity profile] raincitygirl.livejournal.com 2009-03-24 04:37 am (UTC)(link)
I suspect that shippers who are already in a minority are more accustomed to getting their hearts broken than majority shippers, and thus better at emphathising with their pain.

[identity profile] hecatesknickers.livejournal.com 2009-03-24 12:36 am (UTC)(link)
Well, it's not like I can tell anyone what to do, so if others want to do it, whatever...I don't like it, but that's just my personal problem.

And I don't really have a problem with you doing it...you ship both couples, i'm not going to tell people how to ship! I do feel bad for people like YOU and the other decent K/L shippers. It's just the thought that K/S writers (not YOU), who've been ridiculed for their ship for so long would cater to the assholes that really bothers me.

*blink*

Uhhhh.

No.

[identity profile] frolicndetour.livejournal.com 2009-03-23 11:42 pm (UTC)(link)
1. Am not actually writing any. No time. Just felt the urge.

2. Not all Kara/Lee shippers are assholes. The ones that are get no sympathy from me.

3. I actually got the urge because I felt unsatisfied with that ending. I never hated Kara/Lee! I just liked Kara/Sam more.

4. It was just a random comment in my own journal, not a declaration of what everyone should do.

5. :(
ext_18106: (Default)

[identity profile] lyssie.livejournal.com 2009-03-24 12:29 am (UTC)(link)

4. Actually, it was comments on the K/S thread on Skiffy that blew my mind.

3. I know! And if there were more Kara/Sam writers, I'd really just be handwavey about it and not care so much. But I can count on my hands those of us who still produce fic, and we are statistically swamped by the K/L writers. They were the ship that ate the fandom, though Roslin/Adama has now taken over. And anyone writing fic with Kara is still generally writing Kara/Lee.

2. Oh, I know. Believe me, I know. And I also know what it's like to be part of the bigger pairing with your share of misogynists and jerks (hello, Sam/Jack list, still don't miss you) and loudmouths who drown the sane ones out.

[identity profile] frolicndetour.livejournal.com 2009-03-24 12:37 am (UTC)(link)
4. Okay. :) The wording made me think this was mainly directed at me. *checks big ego*And that made me a SAD PANDA. Because I like you and don't want you to despise me for my multi-shipping ways. OMG the Skiffy thread is being sympathetic and non-wanky? We are SO much nicer than they are! Seriously, where are the animated giffs and mean-spirited sigs? ;)

For what it's worth, I feel no urge whatsoever to either read or write K/L fix-it fiction. (LOL Major understatement.)

I believe the ending for that couple was totally appropriate. It was never meant to be. Their love was always about friendship and family, and when they tried to make it more, neither ever really could. That too is a beautiful story in it's own way. I'm sorry that some K/L fans are despondent over that, but it is the way I see it. And ITA about the bullshit that some of them heaped on Sam and Dee. :(

[identity profile] frolicndetour.livejournal.com 2009-03-23 11:53 pm (UTC)(link)
Well LOL, no one is asking you too! But this is mean.
ext_72209: Katara Srs Business (Default)

[identity profile] cujoy.livejournal.com 2009-03-24 12:32 am (UTC)(link)
It's not meant to be mean. It's just my opinion. I think that K/L's friendship/family love was beautiful. But when they tried to make it more, not so much. But yes, I also do think that Lee standing there alone and abandoned was a very sad ending for his character. But I picture him hooking up with Ishay, and that makes it better.

And you're still totally in the family.

ext_10249: (pilots)

[identity profile] nicole-anell.livejournal.com 2009-03-24 01:28 am (UTC)(link)
I don't see how that comment was mean, honestly. She liked where K/L ended. I liked where K/L ended. There are even shippers who liked where K/L ended. (http://cynicalshadows.livejournal.com/210015.html) I still think Sam got screwed worse. You can write fix-it fic, and I think it shows just how sweet you are, and I'll probably read it because you're an awesome writer, but personally this is the last thing on my mind to gnash my teeth at RDM about.

[identity profile] frolicndetour.livejournal.com 2009-03-24 01:35 am (UTC)(link)
Yeah, you're right. (Sorry Cujoy!) I'm over it now, but this post and the comments kind of made me feel attacked. Like you were all calling me an idiot and OMG are we not good enough friends that you can do that directly??! ;)

LOL sensitive much? It's been kind of a day.

but personally this is the last thing on my mind to gnash my teeth at RDM about.

I HAVE A WHOLE LIST. :D

[identity profile] mfirefly10.livejournal.com 2009-03-24 04:18 am (UTC)(link)
I, too, felt like the Kara/Lee ending was very organic. I realize it might have not been where the writers intended it to go but I think it works really well. The Kara/Lee relationship was always about bad timing. Those two people, who I think did really love each other, were just never in the same place at the same time. And that's very sad but also very beautiful. So, for me, that ending was perfect.

And, if I disagreed with the ending, I'd have no problem writing Lee/Kara fic. I don't think that makes anyone a bad K/S shipper. It just shows how incredible these actors were that we cared about both relationships.

It wouldn't upset me if the ratio were different. There are 50 Kara/Lee writers for 1 Kara/Sam writer. And that's an average that has halved. But if you're all off writing Kara/Lee, it goes right back up.

Seriously. I can COUNT ON ONE TWO, sorry, HANDS the number of Kara/Sam writers.

Yay!

Sorry, I think I'm just craving fic (ok, truth, I'm always craving fic). Mostly because the books I was reading hit a point they were repeating themselves, which is annoying.

And now I have no fic to read (I did troll ff'net the other night, though. I should go back and pull some links, because there was some K/S fic on there I hadn't seen before)--

And while I'm usually a gen girl, I'm embarrassingly otp about Kara and Sam in fic.

I'm sure as hell not, the only time those assholes even bothered with me was to try and get me banned from skiffy. Plus I find all this whining and crying way over the top, it would be one thing if they were just expressing how upset they are but its all reeks of entitlement. Its one thing to be upset because you cared about the show its another to be throwing a fit because it didn't go your way.

I get that not all starpollo shippers are assholes in fact one of my best Jericho buddies ships that way but for the most part their behaviour is makes it hard to be all that sympathetic
ext_18106: (Sam goddess)

[identity profile] lyssie.livejournal.com 2009-03-24 04:10 am (UTC)(link)
Yes, but to be fair to them? Ron continued throwing little tidbits so they'd keep watching. I've watched that sort of bullshit enough in SG-1 fandom to recognize it from another set of people in charge.

And I'd note that large portions of K/L LJ fandom are perfectly nice people. Just like there's large portions of Sam/Jack shippers who are sane and love Sam Carter. We don't all think she's a horrible, cheating bitch for dating Pete Shanahan who deserves to be raped and tortured for cheating on Jack.

[identity profile] scifiaddict86.livejournal.com 2009-03-24 05:24 am (UTC)(link)
I'm not saying they shouldn't feel upset but I just can't stand people with entitlement issues its just a pet peeve of mine. I think I would sympathize with them a lot more if I didn't feel like saying "you gets what you gets and you don't get upset" every time I read one of their posts. Plus as I was saying on Skiffy I was reading up on the situation in Afghanistan today and with my uncle (whose military police) shipping over there in June it makes me realize how petty some of this shit is.

[identity profile] scifiaddict86.livejournal.com 2009-03-24 06:01 am (UTC)(link)
I don't know if that's always true the alterna (Jake Heather) shippers of Jericho certainly had many more assholes per capita than the canon paring did. And the only trouble I remember having on a Animorphs board was with a Marco/Rachel shipper. I think its just that once a shipping group gets large enough, group think kicks in and everything becomes them vs. us and everything is a much bigger deal. Plus I think shipper thread that have a large group attract people who like to manipulate large groups. Its interesting though I notice outside of the skiffy boards the amount of Kara/Lee shippers compared to the rest of BSG fans is a lot smaller. Only three people on TWOP reacted negatively to Katee's spoiler for instance.
