Meme two.
THE MEME: Pick your favorite icon for each of your ships, then fess up as to what you're doing on that boat in the first place.

1.
Kara Thrace/Sam Anders (Battlestar Galactica)

They're hot. He's not Lee. Truthfully, I never thought I would ship them. At the time, I was happily shipping Sam Carter/Kara Thrace. But then he was adorable and looked good half-naked and Kara really liked him. On top of which, Ron made him a terrorist, and we all know about my fictional terrorist kink (thank you, Blake's 7). Sure, it's a bit more angsty now, and they're very very dysfunctional... But I'll live. I miss the fluffy hot happyness, though. No one was more surprised than me, btw, when they actually got married in canon.

2.
Sam Carter/Kara Thrace (Battlestar Galactica/Stargate: SG-1)

Speaking of which... It's not canon, will never be canon--they will never ever meet. And I don't think either actress will ever be on the same show (unless Katee guest stars on Sanctuary or something). Anyway. It's hot, it's snarky, it's full of the two being pilots and trying to out-fly each other. And I still wonder if Sam Anders got his name from me...

3.
Sam Carter/Jack O'Neill (Stargate: SG-1)

I... I don't remember why I initially fell in with them, but I sort of subscribed to the "so doing it" theory of Sam and Jack, especially seasons six and seven. I remember resenting Pete, but at this late stage, I don't anymore. Let's just say they're snarky and adorable and sexy.

4.
Aeryn Sun/John Crichton (Farscape)

God. This is one of the few relationships I ever watched on TV that kept me interested and wasn't full of will-they won't-they in an obnoxious way. There were believable reasons for the things they did, and when they're together? It's incredible. It's happy and hot and still slightly dysfunctional. On top of which, they are partners. They know each others' movements and rhythms. And I've always loved that.

5.
Dana Scully/Fox Mulder (The X-Files)

Again with the partners kink and the "so doing it" feelings. Season four comes to mind. I should really buy that. Also, no one can smack him into line like Scully can, and it's gorgeous.

6.
Jean Grey/Scott Summers (Marvel comics: X-Men)

Fuck current canon. These two are incredible together. They survived 15+ years in the wrong bodies, raising his kid, they survived both of them dying and being possessed... And they're so adorable. And Scott waited for her to be ready to ask, and didn't push. And they have really hot sex, and sometimes, the boathouse is not far enough from the mansion. (also, they're the third OTP that is canonically married. *smug*)

7.
Domino/Nate has too many names Dayspring (Marvel comics: X-Force)

Partners. She's awesome. He loves her to bits. THERE WERE WEE LITTLE HEARTS IN CANON IN A PANEL. They're one of my oldest pairings, and I still love them madly. I just don't get as much inspiration for them. They're also dysfunctional, and both tend to run away from committment like it's a bad thing.

8.
Beverly Crusher/Jean-Luc Picard (Star Trek: the Next Generation)

Old OTP is old. I'm not even sure I knew what shipping was during TNG, but I totally did it for them. They were friends. And they talked about shit and they just... there's this quiet partnery understanding that flows between them, and I love it.

9.
Sam Carter/Vala Mal Doran (Stargate: SG-1)

It is my firm belief that near the end of SG-1, Sam found her replicator counterpart, fixed her up with all new memories and sent her off to Atlantis. Meanwhile, the real Sam and Vala ran away to be space pirates. In leather. And it's hot, and they do the Robin Hood thing, and beat down stupid people.

10.
Laura Roslin/William Adama (Battlestar Galactica)

I do not ship them in any sort of official capacity, but they're always sort of there, in the background. And they're irrevocably Mom and Dad, thanks to [livejournal.com profile] aj. Also. Partners kink again.

11.
Athena/Helo (Battlestar Galactica)

Sigh. Crazy kids. The devotion gets to me, also, the hot sex. But it was so screwed up on Caprica, and she's a Cylon and he's so damned loyal... How can I not love them? Also, did I mention the hot sex?

12.
Six/Gaius Baltar (Battlestar Galactica)

Let's be honest here, I sort of ship head!Six/Gaius more than Caprica/Gaius, if only because he's let Caprica down so hard when he realized the reality. And Gina/Gaius is hard to decide on, because Gina is such a fractured individual, though she's what really broke through to him that life as they knew it had ended (he'd known, but it hadn't been personal). And the way he used head!Six's memories of pyramid and--these two (Caprica and Gaius) can hurt each other so much. He can tell her it's transcendent, but that's not all that it is. Sigh. Did I mention I like dysfunctional relationships?

13.
wee!geisha/wee!ninja (Google Mail)

He cooks and cleans for her and brings her flowers! And then he cowers behind her while she kicks the dragon's ass! What's not to love?

14.
Sophie/Parker (Leverage)

Two women who actually exchange dialogue and could conceivably sex each other? I'm so there. Also, I can see each fascinating the other as they're from very different worlds. Also. Did I mention the hot sex?

Pairings I should have icons for, but which have slipped through the cracks:
Elizabeth Weir/John Sheppard (SG: Atlantis)
Kitty Pryde/Pete Wisdom (Marvel comics: X-verse) (I had one, LJ's stupid thing ate it)

*looks over*

Four out of 14 married couples. Huh.
10 out of 14 are 'canon' or nearly-so.
1 out of 14 massive crack pairing.
3 out of 14 femslash. No boyslash.

I am impressed with your track-record of married people! Although, we don't have clarification on wee!geisha and wee!ninja, but I could see them sneaking off to the priest one night. Only difference would be that he'd have to clean the house more often. (I wish my theme did something other than throw stars at me.)

There's nothing to resent Pete for any more. I don't remember details, prolly because they tried to leave it ambiguous, but it was obvious as hell that she threw him over for Jack. Afterwards when she told whathisname, federal-agent-guy, that she was single but not available because "it's complicated", what could she possibly have meant besides the same ol' chain-of-command stuff?
