god-damned cold.

1. Remember, only boys like superheroes and action movies. Girls just want dollies and Julia Roberts romantic comedies.

2. I don't know where it was anymore, but I was following links around Metafandom and came across a commenter claiming it's totally ok for Skiffy to not try courting female audiences, because women only watch Lifetime and E! and etc., and besides, women will watch anything and it's only men that advertisers like.... The disappointing thing was not a single person was disagreeing with the idiot.

3. DO YOU PEOPLE REALIZE THAT IN ONE WEEK AND ONE DAY I WILL HAVE NEW KARA AND SAM ON MY TV?

4. It is possible I want to be Maddy Magellan when I grow up.

The author goes on in the comments section to claim that Buffy was not a successful series, but a "niche show," and to dismiss every example the commenters had of women enjoying females with superpowers and performing superheroic deeds. Because they don't count.

Clearly, not only is Josh Tyler from the planet Stupid, he is actually the long-lost king of that world.

Seven years (two with an up in their production money) totally doesn't count as successful.

I bet he doesn't know what a crown is for.

1. Have he been in the cinema lately on any superhero/action movies? Did he think all those people looking like women are transvestites? On the other hand women superheroes get so badly mistreated in movies it's hard to watch.

2. And men only watch sport and news. So who's watching sci-fi?
ext_18106: (Aliensexfiend)

[identity profile] lyssie.livejournal.com 2009-01-10 01:39 am (UTC)(link)
1. No! They were simply pressured to be there by their men. Or something.

As to the second thing, it depends on what you consider a superhero.

Aeon Flux and the Bride (Kill Bill) both spring to mind as decently-treated heroines (ok, The Bride was left for dead and there's lots of violence and such. But she's not running around in skin-tight non-existent spandex, she's wearing a sort of bulky and probably far more comfy track suit in a hideous shade of yellow).

Kill Bill is panned in a lot of places, from what I saw on Jezebel.

And Aeon Flux gets ignored or is 'too wierd' or something. I don't get most of the objections to AF, given the story is ALL ABOUT a woman, and her sister. And her friend, Sithandra. And two of the other main characters are women, as well (Trevor's bodyguard and the woman who assigns their tasks).

2. GNOMES. Obvsly. ;]
