...just like a sacred cow, visions of swastikas...
1. Man. You know, I don't get people who actually use smushed pairing names. Especially in multi-fandom endeavors. It's a little... what's the word I'm looking for... stupid? cliquish? Your pairings are not special enough for everyone to know what those grade-school level compound words mean, morons.
2. Though, in truth, it doesn't matter. I pretty much assume anyone using smushed names has an iq below grade-school level. Seriously, I tend to picture people who use them as unwashed, greasy thirteen year old boys. No education, no socialization, and certainly no intelligence.
3. It always amused me that Stargate: SG-1 never suffered them. I doubt the fandom was more mature, it's just harder to do smushed names. Atlantis is rife with them (have I mentioned lately how awesome it is that stupid-tastic show got canceled?), but that's no surprise given how badly-written the show is. Crap like that tends to attract unintelligent people. BSG is trying a few on for size, but the fandom seems almost too-small. Torchwood, NCIS.... Sigh. Unwashed idiots rule. I don't know about Bones, I stay far away (besides, really... Brenth? Anggins? ... yeah, no)
4. There's always a downside to something like that, of course. DC is canceling two female character titles, and Marvel is canceling She-Hulk. Yeah, I can see how your companies are just trying so hard to attract a female audience. Though, given personal observation, you should just do a shittily-drawn comicbook version of Brokeback Mountain. The ladies will come a-runnin' for cock.
5. Note to self: plastic the windows and buy a ladder this weekend. Living without overhead light is annoying.

I like your theories here, though. I've been wandering around feeling at least a little bit responsible for the plethora of clever-words-for-pairing-names in the 'lantis cesspool, so I am relieved to hear that they would have done it on their own. :)

Dude, the only comfort I have about Sparky is that at least it ain't Shweir.

Every time I read about Torchewood or Supernatural I always come away so grateful that BSG never got taken over by the militant female-character hating slashers. Eeeeugh. Not quite sure how we escaped, but yaay.

To be fair to Torchwood, though, they love their ladies.

I'm a little tired tonight, so my brain processed it as you saying that Supernatural had never gotten taken over by militant female-character hating slashers and "Are we talking about the same Supernatural?" Then I reread it and caught the BSG part. Made a whole lot more sense then.

Anyway, I think that CSI:NY is one of the worst fandoms for squishing names together and coming up with the most stupid labels ever. "Cutesy" labels make me avoid the fics in question like the plague.

Although, in all fairness, I've had a very hard time finding any stores that carry the comic and I've had to resort to special ordering the trade paperbacks, so I guess it's not that surprising.

And yeah--apparently Robin & Nightwing too, but they'll probably come back when all the Batman RIP crap is over...

Actually, I've been having a lot of moments like that today. Kiiiill.

It was Bowie, though, so things could've been worse.
