Katee's letter, from the coffee table book.
Since
prolix_allie couldn't read it (and I was straining), I went and typed it up from the image.
(the link to the site hosting the bits from the BSG Coffee Table Book is here please be aware of vague spoilers)
I've tried not to correct or miss punctuation, but I'm only human...
Ahem. Katee Sackhoff's letter to everyone on the BSG set. (DO I need to point out I DID NOT WRITE THIS?)
My love letter to you all
I've written this letter to each one of you so many times in my mind, and now I sit down to do it and I'm a wreck (it could be that I would love to smoke a cigarette, or that I've had 3 glasses of wine), I've waited 'till the last minute again to turn in my homework (the dog ate it) and now I'm a little tipsy (which is fitting) FUCK!!! Cory? What's my first line?
I took this job against my manager's advice. It was either BSG or Abbey on NCIS. I do believe I chose the right show, and then subsequently fired said manager.
I remember reading RM's mission statement. It was Dec 2002 and I was on a plane heading home for Christmas. I was looking for work--any work! I was broke, living off my parents, and had departed my last show with nothing but the wisdom of my fellow actors. That wisdom has become my mantra and every time I've gone against it I've either ailed miserably or done irreparable harm. That wisdom which I will now leave with each of you as my parting gift.
#1 Never ever come to work loaded (on anything) because you will have to focus more than you ever have before and try for God's sake not to fall asleep on your costars. Thank you, Richard Dreyfus.
#2 Never shit where you eat, and never fuck a fan. This is the best advice I never listened to, first given to me over cosmopolitans by Peter O'Toole. Then again, funny enough, almost word for word from one of the wisest men I know, Richard Hatch. The first day I met him (my mom still loves you, Richard). I've finally learned this lesson... Or maybe I finally fell in love. Either way... I get it!!!
#3 Always trust your instincts. Marcia Gay Harden
#4 It's totally ok to marry somebody young enough yo be your daughter. Thank you Eddie.
#5 And marry a producer. Thank you Lucy Lawless.
#6 I aspire to be like Mary McDonnell. Thank you for everything.
#7 My new partner in crime, Tricia. To all the adventures that await us!
#8 I've never seen growth in an actress like Grace. You're inspiring.
#9 To James for being such a kindred spirit.
#10 Family is the most important thing in the world. Thank you Jamie and Kerri.
#11 For Trucco--the only person I've ever known with titanium rods in their neck. I love you buddy.
#12 Steve McNutt, our camera and lighting departments for making me always look good, finding the right angle, and if that wasn't possible--cut to Tricia.
#13 It truly is possible to be smokin' hot with one eye Hogan.
#14 Bullshit, bullshit, bullsthi, my line. Bullshit, bullshit, bullshit, my line. Aaron.
#15 Oomhah... Need I say more, Tahmoh.
#16 To Callum--for constantly pushing me to be better. You've been the best teacher. And the paint! I will always remember the paint.
#17 Stunts--for always letting me try. Even when I'd already hit Jamie in the face twice!
#18 Sound--You have the easiest job ever. But we love you anyway. No, seriously, I've never looped so little in all my life.
#19 Wardrobe--thank you for putting up with an actress and her insecurities... and also saving me money on tailoring.
#20 Hair and Make-Up--you guys are my shrinks. Shit! I should have had you sign confidentiality agreements.
#21 To all the ADs who have bent over backwards to get me on flights.
#22 Set Dec--You know you did a good job when NBC/UNI is auctioning off everything!!!
#23 Props--the only guys who could keep Starbuck's 2 guns, dog tags, rings, skinny belt and fat belt straight.
#24 Has anyone seen Dave paint?
#25 Transport--for being my personal dog transporters. Meatball and Nelly B will miss you.
#26 Mike Crafty [sp?] for all the veggies and dip. And the occasional shoe! You kick ass!!
#27 Catering--not only do you make the best food on any set in Vancouver, but you introduced me to Vega! Thank God! You know why.
#28 Harvey, I honestly don't know what I'm going to do without you on my next job. You've saved me many times.
#29 To all the Directors who have inspired my performances and also dealt with my techniques! Everything I've given Kara has been because of you.
#30 We have the best Writers in the business. You are talented beyong measure. You have made this character such a beautifully complex woman. I will be lucky to find such depth given to me on the page ever again.
To David Eick and Ron Moore for taking a chance and allowing me to grow as an actor. You believed in me even when I doubted myself. I will forever be grateful for this opportunity. You've not only changed my career, but my life. I grew up on this show. It was and will continue to be an honor having been a part of this beautiful masterpiece.
To the entire Crew. You have all come to mean so much to me. I've spent more time with you than my own family and friends over the last 5 years. Funny thing happens in that case. You have become my friends and family. I will miss you all terribly and at some point I'm sure I'll work in Vancouver again and when I do I hope to God it's with all of you. If we can make it through the Bionic Woman Pilot, we can get through anything. I love you guys!
And to NBS/UNI, thank you so much for giving me my flight suit, helmet, fun belt with both guns in it and my dog tags! That was so unnecessarily nice of you. What a keepsake! Hope to work for you guys again!

You're welcome =)

And yeah, "oomhah" was their drunken attempt to pronounce whatever bottle of wine they ordered while at a restaurant (don't remember if it was in Vancouver or L.A.). Part of the joke was that Osama bin Laden had given them the bottle.
