I feel a disturbance in the force...

ok, not really.
1. Am at UWM. ahahahahah. Maybe I should become a student again?

2. *eyes SG rp ficathon prompts and sporfles* *salutes*

3. wacky Earth Occupation fic goes apace.

4. When you can't access the internets all the time, you stop losing the ability to DO things on them. is weird. Also, it's harder to write fic without them, because for me it was always, *write some fic* *faf about on webs* *icon* *write some more fic* *faf* *fic* etc. Now it's more *write fic* *read short story*--

5. also. I picked up two books that looked promising from the library and they are bad. baad. sigh. The heroine reads like a fourteen-year old who needs to grow the hell up. how is that interesting???

6. No they were not Mercedes Lackey.

7. I did get a compilation of Connie Willis short stories, though. Is good.

But what were they? Warn me! I keep grabbing clunkers lately!

they all had 'hero' in the title. like, 'the Hero Strikes Back' and 'Hero Abides' or something like that. And in first-person. And execrable. Blech.

ooooh

I...I have a slight weakness for those. If they're by Moira Moore.

*hides*

AHAHAH. I'm sure they are not as bad as I'd thought. However. I need a heroine who doesn't read like a 12-year old.

Iiiit probably doesn't help that I'd read one of the Connie Willis short stories, first.

[identity profile] kurukami.livejournal.com 2008-09-10 02:39 am (UTC)(link)
Which Connie Willis compilation was it? Her most recent publications seem to be recollecting old short stories. Personally, I want new! : )

Miracle and other Christmas Stories. It was all they had, but I wanted something I thought I'd read (and I was right, because, damn, am finished and have returned the book, even)

*cackles* I really couldn't resist the set of prompts I gave you. I thought about giving you a different set, but, no. I said to myself, “Lyssie is going to know she can go nuts with these ones.”

AHAHA. Well.

I have one page on one of them, half a page on a second, and am prodding ideas for the third... So. We'll see which ends up getting written and finished. ;]

If not all. You provided good prompts!

Hehe. Is it sad that I really enjoy running a ficathon and assigning out prompts?

My story has hit about 2500 words thus far. Though I'm going to have to take a break this weekend and write my [Bad username or site: @ livejournal.com] story.

[identity profile] lyssie.livejournal.com 2008-09-11 11:04 pm (UTC)(link)
No, it is not sad, for it means I live in hope that you will host the cracky ficathon. ;]

Soon, I hope! The internets are a less snarky place with Lyssie gone, and that makes me sad.

[identity profile] lyssie.livejournal.com 2008-09-11 12:16 am (UTC)(link)
HAH. I even have a ranty commentary thing on gender and stereotypes that has probably been said before, but which I need to articulate.

I don't know if it will be snarky, though. ;]

That's okay, ranty is good too. I want to hear that one, believe me.

SG Rarepairings, dear. And the ficathon has only just sent out assignments. They're not due for a while. ;]

[identity profile] lucyparavel.livejournal.com 2008-09-11 04:32 am (UTC)(link)
Awwww, boo, fandom abbreviations have let me done. *G* Rare pairs are ok, but not as fun as role play. ;>P

Still looking forward to reading when it's done. Can't wait to welcome you back to being connected tomorrow night. *G*

I'm not sure how you'd run a ficathon for roleplay. Though now you've got me thinking about how that would work.

I actually think she means kinky bedroom games...

*clears throat, raises hand apologetically*

Can I have the Lackey ones? I quite like her, actually.

I can check, but I think all that are left are ones I still re-read (Oathbound, Oathbreakers, By the Sword... no, I don't like swords a lot. *blush*)
