Dear Gwyneth Paltrow,

please go join That Woman in the corner of shame and never do a comicbook movie again.

(I don't object to most of the interview, even if she seems a bit of a money-obsessed killjoy, but, seriously? "Comics are still for boys"??? FU, GP. FU sideways with a chainsaw.)

Article interviewing the three women in the current crop of Comicbook movies (excepting Hellboy 2, of course. Wouldn't want them to interview a female character who isn't just a girlfriend/personal assistant)

note: Live Tyler is adorable

*giggles madly* Halle Berry, who once said comicbooks were stupid, AND YET, still ruined Storm for every fan of the character EVER because they paid her enough to shake her tits Oscar play her in the X-Men movies.

(is eternally scarred by her Storm*

THAT WAS NOT STORM!!! IT...IT...IT WAS A SKRULL! AN EVIL SKRULL TRYING TO RUIN ORORO'S REPUTATION! ALSO! CATWOMAN!

What annoyed me was that everyone said Storm was rubbish because they didn't give her anything to do (true) and then when they gave her an actual plot bit in the third one she was still rubbish.

Oh, no. NONONONO. She was crap from the beginning she walked on-screen. Actually, she was crap when they didn't cast Angela Basset

[identity profile] meganbmoore.livejournal.com 2008-07-22 05:29 am (UTC)(link)
I could also see Gina Torres as Storm. But Angela Bassett is so the best one. But, you know, she's older has a commanding presence that might distract from the all important male heroes uhm...not as big a name?

It's the movie she did with Ralph Fiennes where, she, ah, is so badass that I almost cried when she didn't get to be Storm.

Also. She's just frelling awesome in it.

[identity profile] meganbmoore.livejournal.com 2008-07-22 05:26 am (UTC)(link)
Storm wasn't rubbish because she had nothing to do. She was rubbish because they made her a vague valley girl who bore no resemblance to the original version (I mean, they changed other characters up, but at least there was more than hair color left to tell who they were, and you could follow most of how they came up with those interpretations...but then, I think every male writer in the world except Claremont is terrified of Storm) and then let someone who blatantly couldn't care less play her.

She should. *sulks* For one thing, sticking GP elsewhere and letting MG and LT geek out about silly kid things and, y'know, running around as invisible superheroes? Would have been way more fun.

I'm still amused that I accidentally used her babydaddy as a mod for Nate. STILL. AMUSED.

OMG she's so damn pretentious isn't she? "I admire an economist". HONEY STOP POSING!

I don't know if she's posing or not. Not that it really matters, in the long run. I just wish she'd realize how stupid some of what she says is. Not to mention insulting.

What will she say in the next interview? That cars are for boys and dolls for girls ??

I agree about Liv !!

My favorite part is the one where they talk about how women have made so much progress in these movies in having gone from vapid and silly to totally serving a man's plot and/or getting refrigerated having jobs and boyfriends. I feel a revolution coming.

And GP has kind of always been a tool. This is, sadly, not surprising.

I KNOW. I'm just. Like, I could handwave some of that, but, seriously? Sigh.

I want to smack the interviewer, too, as they're obviously not that bright.

Gwyneth: Mine was definitely a testosterone-fest. I was the only girl for miles, except for the women working in the wardrobe, hair and makeup departments. I would have time off when the guys would go blow things up in the desert, and every time I went back to work, they were happy to have a girl there. They had kind of forgotten that there were women in the world.

WOW. You mean to tell me the only women on the entire crew were in the "girly" departments> IMDB seems to think quite a few women worked on the production team outside of hair and wardrobe. (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0371746/fullcredits)
