ficlet: BSG, episode insert 'Revelations'

I was re-watching a Certain Scene trying to answer a question I'd had, when this popped into my head. Annoying, as I was trying to get enough motivation to write something else. But it's 360 words and done, so, yay. Spoilers, yo.

Cylon. Sam's a Cylon. Kara's head is spinning, and she's not sure it will ever stop, again. Her world is upside-down and inside-out, and the only thing that makes sense is the viper next to her. The deck under her feet. Galactica is always where she's belonged. At least, that's what she used to think, now, she's not so sure.

A memory swamps her, too-recent and just a little raw around the edges now. They'd frakked, practically too tired to make it from arousal to orgasm, and Kara wasn't even sure now that she had. Tangled in the lazy aftermath, her mouth got ahead of her brain.

"Why, Sam? Why did you keep backing me up?"

When she'd realized what she'd asked, she'd started to pull free of him. Fight or flight was still her basic mode, even then.

His hands had stroked her side, pulling her back against him as he laughed. The sound was almost exhausted, and Kara felt guilty about sending him out on too many CAPs, even though he was a good, solid pilot. "I figure I owe you, after that whole rescuing my ass from Caprica thing..."

She'd let it drop.

A part of her hadn't really wanted to know the truth. A part of her still doesn't want to know the truth--refuses to believe that the simple answer was the one she'd never looked for.

"You know, you had a feeling you could find Earth. I trusted you, backed you every step of the way. Now I need you to trust ours."

The world becomes solid again, the viper white and silent next to her. Sam had said there was something different about it. She steps towards it, for a moment curious. It hits her, then. Lee's in charge, and Lee doesn't forgive. Her husband was just arrested for being a Cylon, and there's nothing that will save him from being airlocked--

Kara's halfway up the ladder before the thought is complete.

Whatever he is, however he's lied, he's right. She owes him one crazy-ass feeling.

She's almost proud that her hands don't shake when she sits down.
