Make me feel something, Sam. I dare you.
Shit. Shit, he'd taken her up on the dare, and he was doing a damned good job of getting his hands up her shirt, not to mention pinning her down. After the first few seconds, she hadn't tried to scratch him again--in retrospect, that had been stupid. Kara shoved up against him, a tiny part of her somewhere wanting out and gone, now. Most of her, though, was focused on the way her skin was heating up in lines as his fingers stroked across it.
But it was Sam who bit back the moan when she pressed her leg between his, feeling him hard and ready--frak--
Her hand came up, nails digging into the back of his neck before he grabbed her elbow, sliding up to her wrist and slamming her hand outwards again.
"Quit frakking around, Sam," she growled into his mouth.
He laughed, the sound short and bitter, "You keep scratching me and this could take all night, baby."
Maybe that's what she wanted, she thought for an instant, before the reality set in. All night long would be too much, too close, too intimate, with his hands gentle on her skin and his mouth gentle against hers--Kara brought her other hand up, intending to push him into fast and emotionless sex. Another scratch would do it, her nails digging into the skin of his shoulder, right above his tattoo.
Sam grabbed for her hand and they both moved, struggling again for dominance, even though Kara knew she had no chance of getting free. Not with his heavier weight pinning her.
The hand around her right wrist jerked her arm to the side. This time, they didn't miss one of the cans of paint, and Sam actually froze when the liquid splashed up and spattered them.
His head turned and he stared at the smeared red on their hands, then started to laugh.
"Not funny--"
"It is." he contradicted, head dropping to her shoulder, body suddenly shaking.
An edge of hysteria bubbled through her, and she arched again, growling, "Shut the frak up, Sam, and--"
"And what?" The hysteria was in his voice, too, for a moment, "Frak you before you die on me again?"
"Frak you--" She should have shoved him out, instead of this. She wanted a frak or a fight, and he was giving her neither, "Make me feel something, Sammy."
"Yeah, I got the dare." Which didn't seem to make sense, because he climbed backwards off of her. "Are there covers for these--never mind." He changed his question as he must have spotted the pieces of metal. He grabbed one and started hammering it home on a can.
Growling, Kara shifted onto her side and started helping him. Either he was just being conscientious, or he'd get back to frakking her as soon as there was more room, "You are such a frakking boy scout."
"Oh, yeah. I'm a grade-a Caprican hero all right," he replied, his voice sarcastic as he dumped two closed cans on the floor.
Kara reached out and grabbed his wrist, yanking him off-balance, figuring this was getting too close to being like normal.
He almost slammed into the overhead, but he caught himself, smearing her paint with his hand. "Bitch."
"That's why you married me, isn't it?" She taunted, rolling onto her back and bringing up one leg to work on untying her boots. Whether he knew it or not, they were frakking. Of course, he probably did know it, and that scared her just a little. "Just to have someone to smack you around?"
"Is that what you want, Kara? You need to beat me up until I hit back?" Sam jerked his shirts off, dropping them on the bed and grabbed her hands, dropping back down on top of her, and almost falling off the edge of the bed when she struggled with him. "That how you want to feel?"
Surging upwards, Kara kissed him, hard and angry. Twisting, she shoved him with her knee, throwing him off-balance enough again to get a hand free. "If that's what it takes, you got the balls, Sammy?"
A laugh escaped him, and it wasn't a nice sound. He kissed her back, just as angrily, body pressing hers down into the sheets. Kara had no idea why the captain's quarters on a frakking sewage recycling ship had silk sheets, but she went with it, even when she couldn't sleep. Sometimes, she just paced, bare feet slapping the decking, listening to something she wasn't sure she wanted to be able to hear.
Feeling for something that wasn't there, something that would tell her she was on the right path to Earth.
Sam's mouth moved from her lips to her throat and he shifted, trying to slide a leg between hers. The movement jerked her back to the present, reminding her of the physical, and she used her free hand to scrape her nails down his back.
When he jerked and pulled back from her, she laughed, "You sure you don't wanna hit me, Sammy?"
"Nah," he knelt and untied her second boot, tugging both off and then peeling her socks from her feet. He gave a sniff and snickered, "Seelix was right. Officers' feet are just as stinky."
It was hard not to kick him, hard not to push up and knock his teeth in, and that thought scared the crap out of her. Shit. This was Sam, not some Cylon asshole who planned to lock her up forever. Kara scrabbled at her belt, undoing it and then her pants, shoving them and her panties down her legs. "Hurry up, you mother-frakker."
"Keep insulting me, Kara. It's turning me on." Sam wasn't so much angry anymore, his eyes devouring her legs and hips, like he was a man standing on a cliff, looking down and seeing a trampoline.
She did kick him, then. The impact wasn't as hard as she'd intended since he dodged, laughing at her.
"That the best you can do?" he demanded, kicking off his boots out of her range and dropping his pants. He knocked one of the paint cans over as he stalked back to her, climbing on the bed and leaning down to nip at her stomach, teeth almost painful.
Kara grabbed for his head, pissed that his hair was too short to give her much to hang onto. She went for his ears, nails digging in just slightly as she tugged at him, trying to get him up. "Shut up and frak me, Sam."
A breath blew out against her belly, and he moved faster than she'd expected, hands grabbing her wrists and pinning them above her head as he settled between her legs.
Shit. She'd forgotten how easy this was. Even without him buried inside of her, she could feel again. His warm skin pressed against her, his mouth just barely brushing hers. "You're still wearing too many clothes, Kara."
"What?"
Her confusion made him laugh. Pulling himself up, he pulled her with him and let her wrists go. "I meant this," he muttered, grabbing her shirts and skimming them up, taking her bra with them.
Expecting him to just pull them off and get back to frakking, she was startled when he stopped pulling when her eyes were still covered. "Getting bored?"
"Nah, I'm just getting started." His hands grabbed hers and he pushed her back, mouth colliding with hers as she hit the bed again, arching up in shock.
Not being able to see him made her breath catch in something that might have been fear. But she wasn't about to admit that. Twisting, she writhed beneath him, hooking one leg over his waist, "Quit fooling around, Sam." All of this stupid foreplay was just making her desperate.
"Don't know if I should, now." He licked her cheek and tightened his grip on her wrists. "Gonna fight me, Kara?"
"Ass," she hissed, bucking up against him again. "Just do it, Sam. Make me feel something, or are you still too chicken?"
"Oh, yeah. I'm such a coward to be married to you."
His first thrust missed the mark slightly, and Kara laughed, the sound choking off into a moan as he wriggled and thrust again, this time sliding all the way into her without pause. "Frak," she gasped.
Sam's answer was to start moving, hard and fast, like he knew exactly what she needed.
They stopped talking. Kara didn't care, concentrating on the feel of him and occasionally trying to pull her hands free so she could see him. Gods. She wasn't sure if she liked having her eyes covered, but she had to admit it added an extra edge (like they needed it, with the way her skin was itching and his mouth was moving over her face and neck).
Fighting his grip, she could feel him losing hold on her. Kara got her hands free just before her climax hit, tearing at her shirts and shoving them to the side, hands flying to his shoulders, she dug in her nails and ripped down his back.
"Shit--" Sam huffed out, slamming into her with more force than he had before.
"Yeah--" For an instant, it was like stars exploding behind her eyes. The nebula, the clusters spinning out of control. She could see it. Earth, in all its blue-white-green glory, could almost taste the air again, it was so pure.
Then it was gone, chased away by reality, by Sam's hands on her face and his body inside hers.
"Frak!" Kara pounded a fist on the bed, and then shoved at him, angry and not done with him. Not yet. "Move, Sam."
"I'd better, or you'll leave my back in ribbons," he muttered, rolling onto his back, bringing her with him.
"Aw, Sammy. You afraid of a few scars?" Kara slid back down onto him, pleased that he still had good staying power. She arched and pressed up against the top of the rack, letting gravity settle her more firmly against him.
He didn't respond verbally, his hands dragging at her hips and his body moving again.
It was different from this angle. Different and yet it was Sam, his eyes closed, as though he were afraid of something. Kara discounted that idea, even as she knew that he'd been right in his assessment earlier. But talk was cheap, and frakking was easier. Or fighting. Hitting him wouldn't change things, though. Even on New Caprica, it hadn't. He'd just dodged or stopped her, twisted her hands behind her back and suggested she needed to cool off.
Gods. She wondered how he'd survived her. How he'd survived them.
Trying to stop thinking, she kissed him again, riding him harder, faster, feeling his breath quicken as his fingers dug into her hips.
Yes, there, now. Echoes of past encounters, her voice high with need, his low with a husky smugness that shot through her, making her clutch him harder. She didn't break the skin with her nails as she raked them down his sides, but she considered it.
It wasn't Earth, this time. It was just Sam, staring up at her, eyes open like he'd forgotten what she looked like.
And he was staring at her as though, for just that instant, she was all he had in the universe.
She didn't want that responsibility, and her nails dug in harder as she twisted her hips, breaking his concentration, breaking both of them.
No stars. Just pure human scent and the sweat under her fingertips and Sam shuddering underneath her. Kara gave herself a second to be human, to lean down against him, like this was all ok.
Sam's fingers stroked through her hair, and it was too much.
Not ok. Never ok, anymore. Scrambling off of him, she stood, grabbing the sheet and wrapping it around herself like it would solve the problem of him being there. "Get the frak out."
He stared at her a moment, then shook his head, rolling and shifting until he was leaning against the back wall, eyes watching her with some unfathomable intent. "Come back to bed, Kara."
A shiver went through her, and feeling blind again (no Earth, no direction, can't quite reach--), she tossed the other sheet at him and moved, sitting on the edge, just barely touching him. One of his legs slid next to her and she ignored it, hands balling into fists.
I just want to hit someone and it might as well be you.

I just want to hit someone and it might as well be you.
Heartbreakingly as canon today as it was back then, yet, he never falters in his love for her.
Excellent story, Lyssie but when are your stories not. :-) Thanks for posting this.

Did you post part of this before or am I imagining things?

I did! Under a filter, because I didn't know if it was mean enough. (obviously, it is) Or maybe you are imagining things. ;]
