random Lord of the Rings...
I randomly watched all three movies yesterday (with copious amounts of fast-forwarding Sam and Frodo).
1. Sam and Frodo = still boring.
2. OMG THESE MOVIES ARE SO GAY. BOYS. STOP LOOKING LONGINGLY AT EACH OTHER.
3. If I were to actually do a version of LotR m'slf, I'd re-image it and gender-swap 70% of the fellowship along with putting non-white people in the movie. Hell, if I were feeling really radical, I'd gender-swap everyone.
4. I had not actually seen the extended bits of Two Towers and RotK. Wacky.

So, you'd have, what, 3? 4? men in the entire 3 movies? *imagines LotR with a Fellowship of awesome, kickass women* Why can't we have Nice Things?

And there would be men! They'd just be the ones screaming and useless and helpless.

Who would you cast?

Gina Torres, Claudia Black, Keira Knightly, Gigi Edgley (Legolas), Kandyse McClure, Angela Bassett (Gandalf, baby)...
And we can't have nice things, because everyone knows that women only like movies like Sex and the City.

If I'm wrong, I don't want to be right. Else, I'm apparently failing at being a girl. (But damn, I'm the one who gets called for powertools, and NOT the guys I live with. *is very smug*)

Oh, I totally fail at being a girl. I love (almost) all female characters, for instance.

You should definitely have a member of the Fellowship from Harad (the pseudo-Arabian area). Possibly a female one.

Well, that, too. But I don't care what Tolkien says about the genetic makeup of ME. All girls, all from every color of the rainbow.
