hey, peoples....

Remember when I used to write crack!fic? Of course you do. And you should go read, if only because, y'know, it's funny... After all, it's not every day Helo and Leoben are drag queens for my amusement.

While searching for that, though, I noticed something:

I wrote a lot of SG-1 fic in 2005. I also had a lot of rants about the Sam/Jack shippers THAT ARE VERY SIMILAR to what I'd be saying about the Kara/Lee shippers. If, y'know, I could be bothered. Mostly, I say it about shippers in general now (including myself, on occasion).

Also, there's a current meme about female characters...

To quote [livejournal.com profile] dsudis So I was adding some new interests to my LJ profile (because I, uh... have some new interests. Yes.) and found myself feeling defensive every time I typed a female name, thinking, basically, FUCK YOU, SHE'S AWESOME, because I felt as if someone somewhere was going to be criticizing my love for them.

So, anyway, then I made a list of women who make me want to say FUCK YOU, SHE'S AWESOME. They are far from the only women who are awesome, or the only women people need to be told to step off of, but they are the top ten I feel that way about, right now, off the top of my head.

If you want to argue with me about the awesomeness of any of these women, I am afraid I will simply be referring you to the subject line. THAT IS ALL.

FUCK YOU, SHE'S AWESOME:
1. Kara Thrace (BSG)
2. Zoe Reynolds (Spooks)
3. Susan Taylor (Touching Evil UK, not to be confused with cardboard-cut-out-girl from the laughably shitty US version)
4. Martha Jones (IS MORE AWESOME THAN GOD) (newskool Doctor Who)
5. Anastasia Dualla (IS MORE AWESOME THAN YOU) (BSG)
6. Mouse (Reboot)
7. Trillian (Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy)
8. Susan Voight (Bull & Brust's Freedom and Necessity--PLEASE MAMA, If I'm very good, can I be Susan Voight when I grow up?)
9. Faye (Cowboy Bebop)
10. Jane Vasko (Painkiller Jane, tv series OR comic. Also more awesome than you)

Want some more awesome women? Here's a link to my long ago 'Women in SF' post: http://lyssie.livejournal.com/570796.html

And here's a list of all of the women I've written (I don't think there's any new additions, though, if I start watching more Spooks, I may end up with lots of Zoe and Ruth in my head): http://lyssie.livejournal.com/1196008.html

Speaking of Spooks, since it was on. It was awesome. It was ALSO WEIRD. Because there were commercials for Wire in the Blood, and so, dude. TAYLOR AND CREEGAN. But, not on the same show. (Nicola Walker and Robson Green, respectively).
