Here's a partial transcript of the battle scene--although Seelix's wacky coordinates and jargon are beyond me, currently.

Anders: ok, I'm Samuel T. Anders, I was born on Picon, I went to Noyce Elementary School--
Seelix: Get your thumb off the transmit button, Sam, you're blocking the-- {dradis or comms, probably}
Anders: Copy that! Oh, frak me!

Seelix: Longshot, Hardball. Turkey right-four lower three committing. (yeah, got no idea)
Anders: Longshot, I got--uh, gah!--Tally. I got your back. *pause for flying, then--* Seelix there's a raider on you!
Seelix: Shoot, Anders!
Anders: I'm trying to! Gods, c'mon, c'mon--

AND THEN SAM SAVES THE DAY.

End of episode.

Oh. And he discovered his wife was back, hugged her, kissed her cheek and dragged her off for sex...

"I told everyone you were too mean to kill."

ETA: ALSO. SEELIX IS VERY FINE IN THAT FLIGHT SUIT.

God, I hope not. It's hard enough having one Longshot in my head along with all the Johns, Cams, Sams and Jacks. Two Longshots would be two Longshots too many.

Also, beverly_mcintyr would never let me hear the end of it. (Longshot is a Marvel comics character with blond hair and wacky luck powers)

Reading that, I think you're right. It may be Longshot.

There was a rumor earlier that Seelix callsign was Hardball, and they are supposed to use their own callsign when they use the radio to identify themselves.

So it could be.

Yeah, I think the formula is first the callsign of the party you're calling, then your own. As in, "Starbuck, Apollo. Kara, stop swooping in and out of my gunsights during battle, you frakking showoff;" or, "Galactica actual, Apollo. Dad, free for dinner?"

Seelix got it right but Anders blew it. I think you're stuck with Longshot.

Aww...I like Longshot. I was prepared for something embarassing or lame, so I'll take Longshot. If, indeed, that's him. Tally would work for me, too, though. Both seem to make sense for him, in some kind of vague pyramid way.

But, then again, all the 'Sam's and 'Anders's make me think he's neither.

You know that the brief moments between Athena and Sam and Kara and Helo really made me think about your fic. See - you and cannon - not so far apart ;)

Sam saves the day and then Kara (just a little bit but still). He really starts to compete with Helo.

Seems clear that Seelix is Hardball (we already knew that from spoilers) and Sam is Longshot. Tally is a term meaning that an unfriendly has been sighted, they've used it before.

It's ironic, 'cause Sam would probably be horrified to learn that his eye glows red, but he did save the day. I like him. I sometimes get the feeling that Kara doesn't deserve him.
