NOES.

Um. Apparently, if basic accounts go away, I will get less feedback.

Noes. :/

Hey, you guys unhappy with LJ? Here's a suggestion: Stop posting and leave. Of course, I said that last year, when you were all bitching about the Kiddie Porn being taken away, and you were all complaining and wailing and gnashing your teeth. And yet. You're still all here.

(in penance for talking about fandom being stupid and eye-rollingly dumb, I suppose I should finish fic. sigh)

eta: also, since I just mentioned this to LoQ, it's more than a little insulting to be told paid users provide no content for lj.

I have no idea! They hadn't complained in five minutes?

*uses OMGCONSPIRACY icon again*

(actually, apparently, something about censorship and cable vs broadcast tv and disavowing anything outside mainstream america... or something. I was stuck at "you will get less feedback" not to mention "all content is provided y basic users!")

I admit I was a little disappointed for the off chance I might ever want to start a comm, but, seriously. I'm embarrassed for how poorly socialized these people are.

You Fail! *cat macro*
No U!

It's not like if you have a basic account, it's going anywhere. And it's not like there won't be any more free accounts - you just have to look at a couple adds. I started with a Plus account and somehow I survived.

Buh? I mean, I don't have any statistics but I would think the reverse would be more true. I started out with a free account because my plan was to just use it for commenting on fic. *waits for you to stop laughing* Why pay for an account if you're just going to be consuming others' content?

They make not with the sense much.

*checks* As of right at this moment, I can still choose 'basic' if I want to create a community.

That could change eventually, though.

I swaer, I'm totally not laughing.

But, yes, I don't know why they insist on saying things like "basic account users create the content LJ people consume", because, um, last I checked, there were actually people reading my lj. Of course, maybe they're not consuming it? (do you need more hot sauce?)

Y'know if anybody had a better idea, okay. But NOBODY DOES. Just think we could've all moved (well, not really, but let's pretend) we all moved to greatestjournal a year ago. GJ recently crashed and blew up. oops. I'm glad I'm lazy and actually didn't go anywhere becasue then I'd have to come back to LJ, and have an account with ads on it, OMG!

Or Deadjournal. I would totally move to DJ, since I've had an account since, like, 99. But.

Yeah, this whole thing where everyone wants to move isn't going to work. Not unless someone does another Journalfen...

[identity profile] hecatesknickers.livejournal.com 2008-03-17 01:12 am (UTC)(link)
All this bitching about the changes is going to make happen is what happened last time...absolutely nothing, other than maybe creating a new account on IJ/DJ/etc that never gets used. Or someone gets the bright idea to start up another journal site that caters to fandom, then realizing how much work goes into running things so it never gets off the ground.

I'm to the point where I just don't care anymore. I've had this account for 5 years and i'm too lazy to pack up and move somewhere else.

I'm not lazy, I just don't see the point. Like you said, it's a ton of work for a journal/blog site, and, honestly, LJ is nice.

[identity profile] hecatesknickers.livejournal.com 2008-03-17 01:32 am (UTC)(link)
Oh god, that icon is alarming, rofl.

And yeah...there really is no point. No site is ever going to stay exactly the same, people need to get used to that. Besides, LJ is where I get my porn all my friends are. Starting over would suck.

You should be glad I don't have Sparky in the gimpmask...

Starting over would be difficult. It could be done, but you'd have to get everyone on the same service, and interlinked again, and even then, there's no guarantee....

[identity profile] hecatesknickers.livejournal.com 2008-03-17 01:45 am (UTC)(link)
I have come close to making an icon that so many times, maybe I should just give in.

And exactly. Too much trouble, imo.

I really don't understand the hub bub. Like most people I have a "holding" account over on GJ and IJ that I never use. Because, frankly, those services aren't nearly as good as what I have on LJ. And that's just the features of the journal, not even to mention the whole F-list, which is the POINT of being on LJ.

And even if every fandom just up and migrated, you know that three weeks later there will be moaning and complaining about some GJ or IJ policy.

So let them moan.
